The second last link is a troll, it has nothing to do with the topic... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.233.104.26 (talk) 18:24, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I've deleted it. Next time you see something like that, feel free to be bold and edit. Indefatigable 20:07, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

April 2006

An explanation of my delete of the "Rhineland campaign". The way the para was written it appeared to indicate that the Franco-Italian border defense WAS the Rhineland campaign. ("in what is called the R.C.") That statement was not true and was misleading. The link indicates where and when the Rhineland campaign took place. However for awarding of campaign streamers and campaign service ribbons, the deployment of the 1st Airborne Task Force was listed in this campaign by the U.S. Army, a side-show at best. I left it in the lists of campaign service because technically, the list is correct.--Buckboard 21:35, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Equipment

Did the Devils Brigade use US weapons and equipment, British, or a mix? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.161.205.91 (talk) 18:37, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

October 2006

See http://www.canada.com/reginaleaderpost/news/story.html?id=20ee9839-0698-4db3-b03f-ba109b54e2a2&k=98001 for a Canada Depatartment of National Defense decision to redact references to the Devil's Brigade from information released under the Canada Access to Information Act relating to JTF2. The redaction included references to the historical relationship between the two units, including the name of the SSF, and references to the SSF's operations. The justification was that 'the words Special Service Force would be injurious to the conduct of international affairs, the defence of Canada or any state allied or associated with Canada or the detection, prevention or suppression of subversive or hostile activities. In addition, the name of the First Special Service Force and the locations where it fought were censored because such details are considered part of advice provided to government.'

This may not be relevant to the entry on the Devil's Brigade directly, but is certiainly relevant to information contained in the article, which has now been deemed a threat to national security.

In the paragraph about disbandment the part about the 14 German soldier's bodies being found seems out of place. Perhaps someone can reword it or move that section to another place. --24.109.16.226 (talk) 08:40, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

While I agree that the men that served are deserving of respect, this article is meant to be encyclopedic, and not a memorial or receptacle for every piece of information and trivia. Beyond that, there are thousands of names, so it's simply impractical to record them all here. There are a number of well written articles and memorials on the internet, which, if relevant, can be added to the External Links section on the page. And there are a number of other representations of the 1st SSF in the media including a Devil's Brigade film, and a number of documentaries as noted in the article itself. - Jonathon A H (talk) 15:50, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Frederick's Rank

Robert T. Frederick's rank jumps from Colonel to General and back again. Midway through the "background" section it is mentioned that LTC. Frederick is promoted to Colonel but the last sentence of the section refers to him as General with no other mention of another promotion. Later, in the "Name, insignia and uniforms" section he is referred to as General in the first paragraph and Colonel in the last paragraph.

"104th Panzer Grenadier Division"

There is no article on the wiki for this division, and no mention of it on related Italian campaign articles. Per a wiki search, this is the only article to mention said division. Can the source be reexamined to ensure that this is not a typo? In addition, the definition provided stating that it is an armoured formation is somewhat erroneous; panzer grenadier divisions were generally motorized or mechanized formations with some armoured support, the in-article description suggests it was an armour division. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.77.160.179 (talk) 18:52, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Unnecessarily Aggressive Tone in Regard to Popularize Nickname

Is there really that much anger over the nickname? "That nickname was invented by the author of the 1966 book which is of dubious history. The 1968 film was based on the questionable book and shared the same title, thus perpetuating the lie of that nickname." appears both buried in the article text and paraphrased on the disambiguation page. Additionally, there don't appear to be any sources backing the claim that it's a lie up. MechanoidWarhead (talk) 11:01, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
