Depending on how the statement "never fired a shot in anger" is viewed I believe it may be incorrect. From my records the VEA 1986 at Schedule 2, Item 3 as it stood in 2001 only recognized that HMAS Melbourne was in the Malaysia and Singapore area from 24 March to 17 April 1961. It did not recognize that 805 Squadron "B" Flight had been allotted to RAF Seletar for the period 4 -13 April in support of British forces.
