This doesn't make sense. Wikisource shows that section 361 of the USA PATRIOT Act formed FinCEN in law. How can this be if they were around since the 1990s? - Ta bu shi da yu 14:26, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

as you can see below they seemed to be moving sections of code around. I haven't done an actual diff, but the part you referenced has the establishment of FinCEN dated to April 25, 1990. I cut this straight from the link you provided.

Sec. 361. Financial crimes enforcement network.

(a) In general- Subchapter I of chapter 3 of title 31, United States Code, is amended--

(1) by redesignating section 310 as section 311; and

(2) by inserting after section 309 the following new section:

`Sec. 310. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network

2009-April-17. The stuff at the top of this reads like it was copied from a PR release. I don't feel confident enough of the Wikipedia guidelines to modify it myself, but it sure looks POV to me. Indeed it reads like propaganda of the form "If we dont all stand together the enemy will win!". But sadly I dont feel that I am unbiased enaugh to modify the article. --Zarutian (talk) 18:35, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Fixed. Judging from the double spaces used after each sentence, the POV description was originally written by a lawyer. RafaelRGarcia (talk) 14:58, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Use of [sic]

In the second to last sentence of the "History" section, "[sic]" is placed following "one stop shop." If "[sic]" were appropriate to use due to something incorrect or unusual about the phrase, it does not make sense here given that the phrase isn't quoted from the source material cited, rather it seems to be the work of the author of the section. Therefore, it is not a quote in which the author would need to point out that the phrase was written that way by the original author. Additionally, why would the phrase "one stop shop" be in any way incorrect, thus needing the designation "[sic]"?

I don't want to just go in and take it out in case the author or someone else has a decent explanation for this.
