Article title

edit

I've changed the article title to something that refers less to the specific game Final Fantasy I•II, which is decidedly different than the other I/II compilations but I've managed to introduce the construction "Final Fantasy I", which actually doesn't exist outside remakes. I'm not exactly sure if that is okay since it seems that the first FF game is always called Final Fantasy I in the context of remakes. Also, I'd like to get a better word than "rerelease" but I don't know what that might be. The sum of all these reasons has led me to the faux pas of not fixing double redirects because it would just be a waste of effort if we decide to choose a different name. I don't think keeping Final Fantasy I•II is such an issue. The FFVI article also deals with "Final Fantasy VI Advance", and the FFX one deals with "Final Fantasy X", "Final Fantasy X International", and even "Final Fantasy X/X-2 Ultimate Box". It might be difficult to find a different name for this article because anything else would probably include the individual remakes in addition to these 3 compilations... Mmmh, actually, maybe it's not a problem? Since FFOrigins is a port of the WonderSwan Color versions of FFI and FFII, maybe it would be useful to have these individual remakes on this page. Keeping the name as "Final Fantasy I•II" would introduce ambiguity as to the subject of the article. I don't think adding the I to refer to the first FF is so bad anymore but I'm still not sure about using the word "rereleases". Do you have any better suggestions? Forgot about this page... I believe the problem with Rereleases of Final Fantasy I and II is that it's not specific enough. One might think that this article is about all rereleases of FFI and the rereleases of FFII, even though it's only about the compilations of FFI and FFII in the same package. We have two solutions: change the article's name, or include all the individual rereleases here (and delete them in the original FFI and FFII articles). I'm leaning towards the second solution. I think that we should keep the rereleases in their main articles where they are now, and change the name of this article to be Final Fantasy I•II (compilation). I don't believe an article devoted to just rereleases is notable, as their content would only contain information about the differences between it and the original game, better to have them as a section in the main article for that game. --—ΔαίδαλοςΣΣ 21:43, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Is this where the discussion of all those merge tags is hiding?
I also don't see a whole lot of point in an article about rereleases of the two games as a compilation. If the differences are notable enough for a whole article here, they're probably notable enough for an article on the remake. Otherwise, they are probably slight enough that they can be described in the FF1 and FF2 articles. Anomie 23:39, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
The discussion is not hiding, I filled the merge templates correctly so that the links in the templates lead to here. Is that option not often used or something? Kariteh 09:05, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
*Checks* ... no, I'm just dumb. Sorry. Anomie 13:07, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Collect the crystals?

edit

It says you collect the crystals when you defeat the elemental whatever-they're-called. It seems to me you start with these crystals, and you just activate them, might it be talking about something else? Gopherbassist 03:15, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:FF2012.jpg

edit

Image:FF2012.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merge

edit

Since Jinnai dropped the ball on actually starting any sort of discussion to go with their merge tags, I'll create a section for it. All I have to say is that someone who intends to promote the merge should go through the history of FF1 from around October 2008 and be sure to notify the people who did the split in the first place. Anomie 01:31, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I vote no, particually because it's about Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II. Mistermom7 (talk) 19:56, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
I think that Final Fantasy:1 and Final Fantasy:2 Should have there own pages they are separate games!
--Polocatfan (talk) 15:42, 30 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
I think you misunderstood. This article is about those remakes of FF1 and FF2 that include both games on one cart/disc. The proposal is to take the relevant information from this article and put it into Final Fantasy (video game) and Final Fantasy II, not vice versa. Anomie 16:22, 30 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, I don't quite think this is short enough to have a section in both FFI and FFII. It would take up too much space and would have to be shortened a lot. Besides, both the articles of Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II contain sections about remakes that mentions these games, so it's really already there. Namco phone port

edit

Looks like there's a new FF port available by Namco for mobile phones: http://www.namcogames.com/finalfantasy/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.240.30.23 (talk) 22:56, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
