Fiat Topolino after Mickey Mouse?

I have never heard this: Mickey Mouse appeared for the first time in Italy in 1930, so it might have influenced the popular name of this car. Nevertheless, I've always thought it was called topolino since its front end recalled a small mouse head. Value of Lire?

The article talks about the cost of the car in lires, but it's a rather meaningless number as the lire no longer exist. Can a knowledgeable person do an equivalence value in euros or USD in the article please? 98.203.247.11 (talk) 22:43, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Count the Topolino.

Going back in Italy every years or almost, on the road I counted the topolinos. It was a car kid game to pass the long travel back home. My father explained to me, we call it "topolino", it's the italian name of Mickey. I love that car, it remember me of my youth and is an italian design icone for us Italians. The term "italian citycar" bothers me, because, not unlike the Volkswagen, it was known as a popular car, meant, as Ford projected too, to have a car cheep available to the commoners. It was declined in utilitary to for small business in a country who was finaly joining the industrial revolution almost a century after the english. The market target was not the urban people, it was the ones who couldn't aford more. The "citycar" is a end of 20's century concept, emerging in japan against big american cars in crowded Tokyo. conceptualised far later than the topolino all around the world, like the swiss Smart Fortwo and it's innovatinve concept car design for its time, for exemple. Not like cities had problem for finding parking or to much car on the road in the poor Italy of the 1930's. That's a rich problem.
