Jeep edit

The Jeep is indeed related to the proposed Fiat 500X, but is its own model, so I have moved out the Jeep content to its own article, and removed the redirect. Warren (talk) 16:38, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Rear suspension? edit

The front suspension of the AWD is MacPherson strut, but is the rear suspension MacPherson or Chapman strut? Andy Dingley (talk) 09:14, 21 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Short description and WP:OWNership edit

I have twice been reverted by Andra Febrian and I invited contact correctly at Talk - instead he continues with officious edit summary comments. I added a not-short short-description as there are a few models called Fiat 500, and as the short description is a navigation aid for the mobile site. Did you think I was guessing at it? I didn't want a lecture from you. The Jeep predates the Fiat version and both refs I cited state they share a platform. I think it's reasonable that Fiat didn't have a platform that Chrysler Jeep then used later.[1][2]

I didn't want to do massive research on this and to debate with someone like you something you are blowing out of proportion. IMO you are exhibiting OWNership in wanting to go to war. This is just for protocol - I have taken this off my Watchlist and hope not to come into contact with you again.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 04:08, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

I initially ignored your request to go to the talk page because I clearly explained the matter in the edit summary, and a short desc is too minor to go on a debate. But since you insist, whatever (the one that blew this out of proportion is you, by the way). It is an absolute exaggeration to say I am claiming ownership to the article. I'm just a passerby noticing you writing an inaccurate short desc, in which I corrected in a good faith consistent to WP:BRD. Then you fail to present me an argument why should the short description mention the "Jeep platform". First of all, short description needs to be as short as simple as possible. For a short desc, platform is a quite deep detail and reader can just read the article to know about it. Second, it needs to be as timeless as possible. What if the second generation 500X uses another platform? Then we have to change the short desc again. With the current short desc, it is virtually timeless. Lastly, the SCCS platform article never mentioned anything about it being a Jeep platform. Jeep is a brand, not a manufacturer, therefore technically did not own platforms so calling it a "Jeep platform" is not only an oversimplification, it is a misnomer.
