History of page name

edit

This page was originally "List of compositions by Ferruccio Busoni" --Robert.Allen (talk) 01:41, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Since it was created this page grew to have three lists:

 • List of selected recorded works by category
 • List of original compositions by catalog number
 • List of adaptations by catalog number

Because of the size of the catalogs, it got to be too long, so it was split into three pages. At some point it might make sense to rename it to something like: List of recorded compositions by Ferruccio Busoni - Robert.Allen (talk) 20:34, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Robert.Allen has asked me to explain the name change. This was made to use the word 'discography' — as per similar pages. If there is some problem in this instance, please say so. --Kleinzach 03:22, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Ferruccio Busoni discography" could describe either a discography of performances of Busoni's works or a discography of Busoni's own recorded performances (there are some). To specify that the works listed are "by the music artist" has a similar ambiguity. 72.92.0.250 (talk) 20:46, 31 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
edit

The "List of selected recorded works by category" currently uses "r"-group footnotes to create the "Selected recordings" section. Although this gives nice links between the list by category and the recordings, it is difficult to edit. For recordings with lots of works, the return links are confusing because of the proliferation of "abcde...".

I am thinking of converting over to a different method of linking the recordings and the list by category. Either by using

{{Anchor|anchor_name}}

or

displayed_text

The way I see it, the advantages of either method (over the "r"-group footnotes) are:

 • Either one can be linked to with "[[#target_id]]" syntax (on the same page)
 • or from other pages using "[[page#target_id]]" syntax
 • For recordings with multiple works: return links are kept simple, without a b c d e etc, and can be associated with each individual work in the recording listing, rather than the recording as a whole
 • Editing and formatting of the recording citations is somewhat easier and nicer
 • Puts the actual recording citations where they belong: in the "Selected recordings" section rather than in the "List of works by category"

Decided to use {{Anchor|target}} links; seems to work well.--Robert.Allen (talk) 08:13, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Odd character

edit

The "ᵛ" character is showing up oddly in my firefox window... its a box with 1D 5B in it. Is this some sort of unicode character that displays if I have a certain font installed or something? Is there a way to make its depiction more stable? (so it shows up on all browsers?). Thanks. DavidRF (talk) 03:48, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Is this the "MODIFIER LETTER SMALL V" [1]? I don't this this is standard enough to use on these pages. I could be wrong though. I looked for a template that would automatically render it and could not find one. Could use a v or a ∨ or a . Or whatever you'd like. I'm just giving you a heads up that on most browsers, people will see and odd box with 1D/5B written in it. Cheers. DavidRF (talk) 04:05, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Repertoire pieces"?

edit

I saw today a large recent edit that included a list of "repertoire pieces." What does that mean exactly and why does it needlessly duplicate the discography already presented below? I only ask because there was a recent debate about a now deleted article list of Busoni "repertoire pieces" which ended in favor of deletion. This edit seems to circumvent that decision by moving the deleted article to another one. This does not seem to be what the consensus had decided. Am I missing something here? --CurryTime7-24 (talk) 08:04, 20 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
