Basel as an ATP 500 event edit

Gonzalez's wins and runner-ups finishes at Basel, Switzerland before 2009 were labeled as being ATP 500 events. Basel is going to be an ATP 500 event for the first time in 2009. All finals appearances at Basel before 2009 should be labeled as ATP 250 events on the list of Gonzalez's final appearances.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexk785 (talkcontribs) 01:09, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose the only one who comes close the the page views of the tennis player is Fernando Gonzalez (fighter), and he's only getting 1/4 of the page views. The tennis player still gets most of the page views and from a quick read of all the pages, none of them have long term significance claims comparable to the tennis player either. • Support per nomination and Ortizesp. There are 21 men listed upon the Fernando González (disambiguation) page, with no indication that the Chilean champion, who retired from professional tennis ten years ago, has had such overwhelming renown in the English-speaking world that it dwarfs the combined notability of the remaining 20 men. Also, since one of the men, Fernando Gonzalez (fighter) is an American whose name is not accented, the disambiguation page's main title header should be Fernando Gonzalez, rather than Fernando González. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 16:48, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
What indication do you see that suggests that the 20 other men have a combined long-term significance that compares to the achievements of the tennis player? The fighter's record is mixed and most of the other sportsmen have stubs for articles (which says it all for long term significance). The writer is probably your best shot for a long term significance argument, but when he only gets 1/10 of the pageviews of the tennis player even after the tennis player has been retired for 10 years, I don't see where the compelling argument is to change the primary topic. IffyChat -- 19:16, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Another thing. Per Wikipedia, Gonzalez does not have to "dwarf the combined notability"... not even close. WikiMos says "A topic is primary for a term with respect to usage if it is highly likely—much more likely than any other single topic, and more likely than all the other topics combined—to be the topic sought when a reader searches for that term." No question the tennis player hits have dropped since he retired, but to the point yet of him no being a primary topic. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:32, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and page hits the tennis player much more likely to be searched for than any other single topic, and he gets more hits than everyone else combined. That may change in the future, as primary topics often do, but for this moment in time he is still the primary topic. Following Wikipedia rules this should not move. • Weak oppose. I'm not especially wowed by the amount of views that this page gets, but I'm also not sold that he isn't the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Most of the other pages are stubs that do not get any views. And... he doesn't have "overwhelming renown"? For now, this setup is fine. Nohomersryan (talk) 21:55, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment. In my above support vote on May 2, I wrote that "There are 21 men listed upon the Fernando González (disambiguation) page..." and that his renown has to be judged against "the combined notability of the remaining 20 men." Since then, four entries have been added, so that on May 9, the text would state, "There are 25 men listed upon the Fernando González (disambiguation) page..." and that we are attempting to achieve consensus whether his renown exceeds the combined notability of the remaining 24 men. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 22:25, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. Fernando González (writer) alone probably makes this advisable. This is probably one of those situations that's difficult to close: it looks like there is no consensus that the tennis player is the primary topic (which defaults to the dab page at the base title) and likewise no consensus to move (which usually means we retain the current setup).
