LGBT template removed edit

I removed the WikiProject LGBT studies template because the article makes no (encyclopedic) reference to LGBT issues at all. -- Mgcsinc 01:45, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

LGBT? edit

Referenced or not, I fail to see why the "LGBT" designation is relevant. (I happen to be gay, by the way.) There are lots of places/establishments that have "LGBT" versions (salons, restaurants, etc.) but I don't see why (from a neutral POV) this needs to be pointed out in most cases -- certainly not this one that discusses public-friendly restaurants and bars. I have tagged this for relevance, pending further review/comment. Adamdm 00:14, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adam, I am a straight man who happens to dress well so I smell fish here too. It's ridiculous and almost bigoted to make such sweeping generalizations, e.g. since a "fern bar" is for men who dress well, it MUST be a gay establishment because ALL gay men dress as a monolith ("preppy") and for that matter the inverse implication that all straight men don't dress well. Not just the gay designation, I question the relevance and accuracy of the term "fern bar" itself. -Blaze33541 01:50, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I honestly don't see the big issue here. I think the LGBT designation is not relevant and, although not biased, doesn't not add to the stub or the LGBT organization itself. I see a fern bar as one of those places that the lawyers from Law and Order go to at the end of the show to celebrate the case, or something like that. I think that lots of people go to fern bars and, although this kind of stub would be much better off on urban dictionary[1], I think it is still useful. Removed LGBT template, makes no sense. Cleduc (talk) 22:31, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's pretty funny actually. I imagine that arising as they did, in the 1970s in San Francisco, some groups of gays have fond memories of the world's first fern bars.Wikidemon (talk) 15:31, 17 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
