Shouldn't this article be merged with "Baptism of Jesus" ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.129.130.7 (talk) 17:02, 13 January 2008 (UTC) Absolutely, or renamed "Feast of ...". But merging is better. Johnbod (talk) 22:47, 2 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fixing the context

edit

I will be revising this: "In fact, the Tridentine Calendar has no feast of the Baptism of the Lord. It was almost four centuries later that the feast was instituted, ...." "almost four centuries later" is out of context, and I will change the wording. Carlm0404 (talk) 15:42, 27 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rename discussion

This follows on from the failed merger proposal at Talk:Baptism_of_Jesus#Merger_proposal. Johnbod (talk) 00:44, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Doing a search for the most common name - this Revised Common Lectionary website has "Baptism of the Lord". Maybe that's the most common English name after all. StAnselm (talk) 19:08, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
For reasons the article makes clear, the feast list at the Church of England official site doesn't list it.
[Since we are now talking about renaming Baptism of the Lord, I will copy this section to talk there. PLEASE CONTINUE THE DISCUSSION THERE.] Johnbod (talk) 00:44, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Continuing, britannica uses "Feast of Baptism of Christ", (RC especially). The Vatican uses "Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord", as do many other sources (like this US episcopalian church). I prefer this, as including natural disambiguation with Baptism of Jesus. Johnbod (talk) 00:57, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good, I'll do the move. -- Beland (talk) 18:20, 7 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
