From July 1 next year Ron Boswell will be the longest serving member of the Senate. PMA (talk) 16:39, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
period lengths
editMany of the times served are displayed as "x years, 364 days". This appears to be by using the {{age in years and days}} template as introduced in an edit by moondyne in November 2007. I belive these durations are a day short: 1 January to 31 December is a year, not a day short of a year. January 1 is the beginning of the next year. The same is true for July 1 to June 30. It is a full year. These periods should be listed as "x+1 years" instead. The template is probably correct for its intended purpose (age) but wrong by a day for terms of office. Does anyone agree or disagree? --Scott Davis Talk 13:36, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have made 1 July -> 30 June periods a full number of years. I didn't touch any others, but they might be a day short, too. --Scott Davis Talk 13:00, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Purpose of this list
editI've raised a serious issue that affects this list, @ Talk:List of longest-serving members of the Australian House of Representatives#Revisited. Grateful for any comments. -- JackofOz (talk) 07:58, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
