This article needs some specific citations, so I've added a couple of tags. Is it really controversial? That needs demonstrated, otherwise it's not a viable statement. The issue about large numbers of arrests should be easy enough to substantiate, as should the position of the various political parties and their participation.

I also added a references header, there were inline citations but there was no supporting section for them to appear in.

Additionally the external links section and news coverage needs weeded, the news stuff can be used to support statements in text but otherwise it adds little, and some of the externals don't meeds the requirements of WP:RS or WP:EL

Hello - sorry, can't be bothered logging in or actually doing any of the work, but let me try to help with one of those sourcing issues - one Labour politician that has participated in Faslane anti-nuclear-weapon protests is Marlyn Glen MSP - there is mention of this at http://rayleenkelly.blogspot.com/2007/01/snp-faslane.html but as is said there there was no media coverage of Marlyn's attendance and so probably no "reliable" source. She is happy for it to be known that she is involved, email and ask her if you like, she's an elected official and so easy to find at www.mglen.org.uk

Local Residents' viewpoint

Perhaps someone would like to add some information about local residents' views of the Peace Camp and campaigners, particularly the disruption they cause to everyday life? For example there was a protest against the Anti-Trident campaigners outside HMNB Clyde by local residents earlier this month. Ninja-lewis 22:15, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

I agree, this should certainly be added - but as far as I can tell the local residents' protest was against Faslane365 and not the peace camp per se. Faslane 365 redirects to the article on the peace camp, but there's a specific section for it on the peace camp article that the info could be added to (although, by the by, I think F365 deserves its own article - I just don't have time to add it right now). Anyway - I don't think adding info on the local protests would cause a major edit war, so I'd go for it if I were you. --Jim (Talk) 20:09, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Is there such a thing as a single "local viewpoint"? It's pretty mixed as far as I can tell. I also wonder how much the negativity regarding F365 has been influenced by the biased Helensburgh Advertiser reporting that failed to mention the Police's part in having the roads closed off when blockades have been squarely within the Northgate. Perhaps the disgruntled locals would do well to sit down with F365 and discuss the finer points without parties with wider agendas acting as a filter? Some of them are also local, and all of them are very approachable, as much as anyone will be when the general rules of politeness are observed. XXX

Peace activists not only gained access to the Base but also as far as inside one of the submarines docked at Faslane.

We want to evict you

"...no. We never said any a such thing". I just read that the Council (that would be Argyll and Bute) have made an eviction order, only to pull it back. If this is the behaviour of the Council, then that is the same as running with your tail betwwen your legs. Closed?

I made the edit saying the camp was closed that was reversed. I did this as not only had the fact been reported in a number of media outlets, Daily Mail, Independent, brief story on BBC Scotland but also through a personal connection, my sister had been a demonstrator there. • The link provided in the edit summary is dead. I looked around trying to find a reference indicating the camp is closed. I found none (not that such doesn't exist; I just didn't find any reference). Whether your sister was there is immaterial. We need verifiable references to confirm the information.
