Faciotomy for snake bite edit

The cited article, http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001224.htm claims that debridement of necrosis may not be indicated for bites by a certain family of snake, a Bushmaster. The article does not dispute the need for fasciotomy due to compartment syndrome after snakebite. --Systemloc (talk) 20:31, 29 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Really? edit

I'm not sure "people who spend long periods of time on their feet" are "likely" to need a fasciotomy 77.101.238.171 (talk) 18:32, 29 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Do you doubt they're more likely to need it than those who don't? --198.49.180.40 (talk) 17:07, 30 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yes. This claim is baseless. Standing upright for extended periods of time in the setting of venous insufficiency causes lymphedema, which is separate and unrelated to compartment syndrome. --Systemloc (talk) 20:24, 29 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
