Died on the same day as Michael Jackson

@CinemaLover24680: I have made many reversions of non-notable trivia, as I agree this is no place for trivia, however this seems to me to be notable, not only as to the coincidence factor, but also the lack of news coverage of this "iconic" well known "idol's" death. I think this is notable enough to be mentioned. - FlightTime (open channel) 16:55, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

I actually said that info about a famous person who died the same day as another famous person shouldn't be put into Wikipedia articles, which I agree with you that it is considered "trivia", although I just noticed there wasn't as much reports about the person's death than the latter person due to both's simultaneous deaths.--CinemaLover24680 (talk) 18:41, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
@CinemaLover24680: But they're not "completely unrelated" they're both cultural icons. - FlightTime (open channel) 18:52, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
  • They are unrelated. They didn't die in a plane crash together or even from the same cause....it is mere coincidence, making it trivia. She also died exactly 133 years after George Custer and on the birthdate of Sonia Sotomayor. Trivia.Niteshift36 (talk) 19:51, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Edit warring = full protection

Please discuss the merits and demerits of proposed changes here. I've protected the page in hopes it will stimulate conversation. Cheers, Dlohcierekim (talk) 21:03, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

  • Full protect was a sledge hammer approach. 2 different editors have removed it, citing the lack of true connection. Only 1 editor has supported it in a discussion and the apparent rationale is really a bit of SYNTH to get there. Niteshift36 (talk) 21:13, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
@Niteshift36: I'm the one that requested the page protection, not Dlohcierekim. Since we're posting opinions, somehow you think that you can drive by a consensus discussion, make a comment then revert the article to your preferred version is pretty much an WP:OWN attitude. I have restore the article to your version as I no longer give a shit about the information. Cheers, - FlightTime (open channel) 21:38, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
  • I know you requested it. I never said otherwise. But it was Dlohcierekim that made the decision to go with full protection. I'm not "driving" consensus, but I'm not pretending like there is one when none exists. Since you don't like the discussion process and have chosen to just throw a tantrum, I bid you farewell. Personal Life

Mention should be made of her relationship with college sweetheart Greg Lott, a relationship she resumed in the late 1990s (mentioned in a 1999 People magazine article, among other places) until the time of her death, after she broke up with Ryan O'Neal in 1997. For the record, she and O'Neal were not a couple at the time of her death despite his claims in his book and the insinuation of such a relationship in the controversial documentary of her battling cancer. It has been pretty much established as fact her relationship with Greg Lott, thanks to the 2013 Warhol painting court battle involving O'Neal and Fawcett's alma mater, the University of Texas. Despite Fawcett's clear desire to donate the paintings to the UofT, O'Neal won that case. --SN 08 August 2018
