Copyedit
editThe article "dropped" into this aircraft article needs immediate editing or deletion. Editors have to be able to provide referenced work not merely copying whole articles. Bzuk 21:12, 7 May 2007 (UTC).
- It's been a month, way long enough for someone to have provided sources. I'd say go ahead and cut out everything they added, except pehaps what's immediately sourcable and useable. Given that these were the only contributions the IP has ever made, it might also be someone testing WIki to see how long we leave copyrighted material online. Not worth the risk to me. - BillCJ 02:28, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- Looks like a fair amount of the pasted stuff is repetitive or not really relevant. The Fairchild Aircraft Company section can go. That is more relevant to the Fairchild article. I did some internet searches to see where that section came from and didn't readily find anything. -Fnlayson 03:09, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- The section on the Civil Air Patrol can probably be taken straight out - it says almost nothing about the Fairchild 24 anyway that isn't said elsewhere. Similarly the ATA section could be condensed to one short paragraph and integrated into the Operational history section. This article needs to be severely pruned. Nigel Ish 20:51, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, but who will do it? --Colputt 17:10, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Revised g-loading factor
editThe previous version (pre-02 Jan 2008) stated that CAR3 g-loads for Standard-category aircraft were reduced to 3.6. I cannot access the CAR3 to verify this, but I do know that the FAR23 (which replaced CAR3) calls for 3.8, so I am guessing that the 3.6 in the article is a typo, and I have changed it to 3.8. If somebody KNOWS what the CAR3 requirement is, feel free to revise my editing if necessary. Thanks in advance. Raymondwinn (talk) 19:12, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Parasitic -st
editThis article seems to be infected by what linguist call the parasitic -st, such as "whilst" instead of "while". Any objections to converting this article to modern English?
Bill Barilko
editNot sure if this warrants inclusion here, but Toronto Maple Leafs player Bill Barilko was killed in a Fairchild 24 crash. The incident is also the subject of The Tragically Hip's song Fifty Mission Cap. linkMike McGregor (Can) (talk) 05:27, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
