fabric=can make clothes, gowns and shoes not to mentoin hats

The statement at the top of the main page is complete tosh. SOME fabrics are textiles. All textiles are fabrics, I agree with that. But not all fabrics are textiles. A textile is a material that has been woven on a loom, not necessarily from fibre. If I weave steel wire, plastic drinking straws, or horse hair we have a textile. If instead of weaving I condense and press the filaments together I get a fabric called felt, which is not a textile. I have glass felt in my loft as an insulation material. This is a fabric but it is not a textile. Paper is made the same way as felt, the fibres are pressed together to make a fabric which is not a textile. I could go on, there are many fabrics that are not textiles, so the opening statement of the article is nonsense. Textiles are a subset of fabrics which themselves are a subset of materials. This then calls into question the idea that Fabric (the page) should default to Textile (the page). There is no rational explanation for why that should be so. Please change it. 81.156.166.247 (talk) 06:31, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Space, time, spacetime edit

What about the "fabric of space" or "fabric of time" or "fabric of spacetime"? I don't really know what these terms mean but I hear them thrown around a lot. If I had a concise definition of "fabric" in this context I'd add a line for it into the article, but since I don't know what it means, I'm suggesting it here instead for someone more knowledgeable.
