Merge

edit

I think it's a mistake, the team from Liga 1, FC Viitorul Constanta just changed its name, becoming FC Viitorul Farul Constanta and will have the record of the FC Viitorul Constanta. ref 1 ref 2 ref3 let's see how it appears on the LPF website. ref 4

I agree, best case scenario this is a new team altogether, but it's not Farul Constanta that played in the 2nd division in the 2020/21 season. I don't understand why people just consider this the old Farul, how is it different than any other merger of two or more football clubs? They all have new pages on Wikipedia and they all are considered different teams, why the special treatment in this case? It's like you said, this team is closer to Viitorul rather than Farul. I totally agree with this. There were dozens of such mergers in history and we should keep it this way: the club is a successor of Viitorul. Unirea Constanca is the successor of old Farul. --Jakas1 (talk) 07:13, 1 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

FC Viitorul Constanța and FC Farul Constanța are different teams with their own pages on wikipedia. Therefore, the title won by FC Viitorul in 2017 is not part of the original Farul team's history. Anyway, the club continues on the place of the FC Viitorul team, otherwise it would not be able to participate in the European cups, and should be considered as a successor of Viitorul. For this reason this article should be about the entity founded in 1920 and dissolved in 2021, and the activity of the current club, FCV Farul Constanța, resulted from the merger, should be reflected on the FC Viitorul page.Florin (talk) 15:30, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
