FCS, Java and other Sun products

edit

It is very much unclear what FCS has to do with Java and other Sun products, as I have not yet seen an expansion of the acronym. One such example is GlassFish. It is possible that it may stand for First Commercial Shipment, but I am not sure about this... -Mardus 16:54, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

FCS usually stands for First Customer Shipment, and refers to a pre-release to select customers for feedback on new functionality. Feedback from the FCS release is generally incorporated into the product before the GA release (General Availability). 65.119.39.220 01:42, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have defined it in the article as "First Customer Ship" as referenced in the following two articles (Sun: http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/InnerWorkings/testing/index.html and IBM: http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/library/ls-Bonnie_Fournier/) Zanzare 11:48, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
