Removing them

I am removing several entries as they do not classify as expressways. They are:

• Western Express Highway
• Easter Express Highway
• Sion Panvel Expressway

The following roads in the following cities classify as expressways:

• Mumbai
  • BWSL/West Island Freeway
  • Eastern Freeway

• Chennai
  • Chennai Bypass
  • CETL
  • Chennai Port-Maduravoyal

• Bangalore
  • BETL [Hosur Road]
  • NBTPL [Tumkur Road]
  • NDTPL [Bellary Road]
  • BMIC Peripheral Ring Road/NICE Road [NOT the Mysore Expressway]

• Hyderabad
  • PVNR Elevated Expressway
  • JN Expressway/ORR

I disagree with you on removing, Western Express Highway, Easter Express Highway, Sion Panvel Expressway. These roads are come under city that doesnt meant that these are not expressway e.g. if we disqualify these expressways then we need to remove Delhi Gurgaon Expressway from this list too. As it is same as EEH/WEH/SPE, Delhi Gurgaon Expressway has many entry exit point same as EEH/WEH/SPE. But personally I think its more like personal opinion not to include those roads in this list? I'm not being opinionated. My point is simple: None of those above mentioned roads qualify as expressway, simply because they fail to have the two main criteria:

• Controlled Access - You can enter the WEH/EEH anywhere you want.
• Signal Free - There still is a traffic signal on WEH.

Remove DGE, if is fails to satisfy the criteria. AFAIK, it is access controlled.

Well my point is not to remove DGE but to add WEH/EEH in list, as you said that DGE is access controlled, on DGE you can enter same as WEH/EEH(I m using it for more than 1 year(my current location is Gurgaon), if you call DGE is access controlled then WEH/EEH/SPE is access controlled too. I dont remember there is singal on WEH, which might be true, but for EEH there is no signal. KuwarOnline ^Talk 09:37, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

I think we need to keep WEH/EEH in the article. Let us include these articles in the Template:Indian_Highways_Network also under state expressway.

Remove Eastern and Western Express Highways, Mumbai and retain Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.

A road does not become an expressway just by adding the word "expressway" as a suffix to its name. I have seen Eastern and Western Express Highways being built in Mumbai in 1970s and their transformation since then from four-lane roads to eight-lane roads with flyovers. They do not have access-control. How is access-control defined? It is a characteristic of a road that allows entry and exit only at pre-determined points on the road: points that are designed into the road.. Both these roads do not have this characteristic. Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway has this characteristic. One can enter or exit Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway only at pre-determined points through slip roads. Those points are pre-determined and designed into the expressway. The number of entries and exits is immaterial. It may be only three or it may be several dozen. Therefore Eastern and Western Express Highways, Mumbai should be removed from the list and Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway should be retained in the list. It is a fallacious argument that DGE should also be removed from the list because it has many entry and exit points. Those points are pre-determined and designed into the expressway. Biju Expressway

I propose to remove Biju Expressway from the "Under construction or planning" section as though it officially called an expressway, it is a lane expansion project and will not be access-controlled, the most important feature of an expressway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ankit2 (talk • contribs) 11:41, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

National Expressways

Please either create a separate subsection for it or insert a column in the existing tables to indicate if a specific expressway is National Expressway, Inter-state Expressway, State Expressway, etc. NHAI has created a new category called NATIONAL EXPRESSWAYS, which is not captured anywhere. Removal of AIIMS-Digha Elevated Road Corridor

As of July 2021, there are 24 Operational Expressways in India. Talktotommy is constantly adding AIIMS-Digha in this list. I removed AIIMS-Digha elevated Corridor because the list is of Operational Expressways, and not of Road Corridors. Plz provide online references otherwise I will remove it again. Thanks. Removal of following operational expressways

• Dear @Zindahtohpyalabharde:, Please find below my observations and reason for my edit in the #Operational Expressway section:
  • Ambala–Chandigarh Expressway: It is a national highway (NH-152), managed by NHAI. In 2005, its maintenance work was awarded to GMR AMBALA-CHANDIGARH EXPRESSWAYS PRIVATE LIMITED (GMR Group). Since the company had used expressway in its name, some people think its an expressway, though it is not.
  • Bangalore Elevated Tollway: It was an expressway, but now it is not in operation since March 2021.
  • Eastern Express Highway: From its name its clear that its not an expressway. Plz see that its a stub article.
  • Eastern Freeway (Mumbai): Its a highway maintained by MMRDA, Govt of Maharashtra.
  • Hindon Elevated Road: It is an access controlled Highway, not an Expressway.
  • Prayagraj/ Allahabad Bypass Expressway: It's actual name is Allahabad Bypass road and is maintained by NHAI as part of NH-19 (old NH-2)
  • Western Express Highway: Its an access-controlled highway managed by Govt of Maharashtra.
  • Western Freeway (Mumbai): Its an access-controlled highway managed by Govt of Maharashtra.
  • Durgapur Expressway: I would suggest u to make a wiki page on it and then add here. You have linked it by using NH-19 page. Aakash Singh

Listen, @User:Aakash Singh India, as i have already said, you are a amazing editor, i dont want you to be blocked, neither myself, so we have to figure it out in some way. so lets go point by point. First we have to decide what should we add in the operational expressways list, my answer would be "only operational Expressways". second, so what is the meaning of expressway needs to be define??my answer would be "official defination of expressway should be used for reference". third, if you agree with these two point then not all but these Western Express Highway, Allahabad Bypass Expressway, Durgapur Expressway, Eastern Express Highway, Ambala–Chandigarh Expressway should be added in the list. Jaipur kishangarh expressway

I watched several drive videos of this expressway(on YouTube) and I realised it's not fully access controlled. You can easily switch between service road(built sideways the expressway) and the expressway. The barricades (on the sides) have either been removed or they were never added. And yet the government calls it "Access Controlled" expressway. You can even spot a few vegetable stalls on the expressway and low speed bikes are allowed too. Should we really call it an "access controlled" expressway in this article?? Confused guy 152 (talk) 05:25, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

Merging the three sections 1. National expressway 2. State expressway 3. Bypass expressway into one

I propose to merge the three sections into one section. I think this will be a better approach. The current distribution of data into the three mentioned tables seems unnecessary and redundant. A much better way would be to merge the three tables into one. A new column can be added to accommodate the information regarding the type of expressway. The two sections 1. Proposed expressways 2.
