and also killed a woman, whom Muhammad claimed was the real al-Uzza
editSeems a bit weird to me. This would appear to imply that M recognised her as a real Goddess, which rather goes against the monotheism bit. Perhaps it has been badly phrased? William M. Connolley (talk) 21:39, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thats how William Muir phrased it. Regardless whether Muhammad thought she was a godess, the source mentions that he claimed "she was the real al uzza". maybe he thought she was pretendign to be a god called al-uzza, we will never know--Misconceptions2 (talk) 21:44, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
- While we can't be certain, it seems logical that the Pagan Arabs believed that their gods/goddesses sometimes came down as incarnations in human form. They probably worshipped this woman who they believed was Al-Uzza in human form. After she was killed, no other Arab would try to claim that an insane woman was Al-Uzza, hence the statement "That was Al-Uzza (i.e. that's who they believed to be an incarnation of their goddess)! She shall never be worshipped again (i.e. you killed their "goddess" permanently by killing who they thought was her incarnation AND by destroying the idol)" SOW93 (talk) 02:05, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Well you need to understand that in islam pagan deities are considered to be Jinnis wich is aproximately equivalent to demons in christians mythology, its also believed that they masquerad as gods to lead people astray , the jinni article on wikipedia might assist you in you understanding of the matter . regards.
- That's not true at all. Give a source, a Hadith, anything to support your claim. You won't be able to because your claim is false. SOW93 (talk) 02:05, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- They call upon instead of Him none but females (deities). And they call upon none but Satan, a persistent rebel.

Surat AlNisa' 117. In Tafsirs it's said: "with every idol a demon", Which makes sense. Demons would love to play games on idol worshippers, using the usual tricks (Tears of blood and speaking statues, etc) Mando Salama (talk) 09:28, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
