exit exam problems/intensive preparation

my daughter is suppose to graduate from Sonora high in may, however continues to have problems passing the math.section of the Cahsee exit exam. My issue is that she has received As and s' on her report cards,has all of her necessary credits, never held back ,and only recently became apparent that she has been in need of more instruction than have been told she did in the area of math. I inquired with teacher/counselor of possible need for extra math class,was told not to worry as she would have enough time to retake tests and since she has only missed passing by as little as 3 points, we trusted the teachers and the counselor knew best. She has recently taken test, early Feb. and final chance if does not pass is May 15th, which considering it takes numerous weeks to get result of if she passed the previous test,leaves us trying to find a means to assist her now in order to insure she passes. It is my understanding student should receive intensive instructions to be able to know material necessary to pass this exam. We are confused by the passive attitude from her school which told us to not worry and yet here we are now doing exactly that. had we been informed that she indeed needed extra instruction, we would have long ago gone to a tutorial service,which we are now at the last minute having to do since we cannot wait and pray and hope as we have been that she passed the last test taken. instead we are having to put her into tutorial school which we as a low income family really can't afford,however,must to try and help her successfully pass this test. I am upset that in my opinion that she needed more help was not taken seriously and now it is down to the wire. She has been told that she will not be able to join her classmates on graduation night as well as not get diploma if exam failed. It is so frustrating as her grades throughout K=12 have been good and she has the credits, earned not given as some special gift from teachers who perhaps were fond of her. her homework,class exams,etc. reflect the warranted good grades so I resent any comment that perhaps she may not have earned them and that is why the exit exam is used to base her right to a diploma or not. It is wrong to deny her to as the very least walk with her class,as she is graduating from High School, and if you look up in the Wikipedia/dictionaries states "awarded upon completion of High School"not passing exit exam only. How is she not a child left behind if in fact she is denied diploma, but completed her High School obligations, and being in fact "exited"? should she not be at least allowed to join her classmates,wear the cap and gown we had to buy in advance being told she could,and given maybe the Certificate of Attendance? she did ,has attended, did, has passed , is graduation not completion of required classes K-12?  Sonora High and I are to say the least are not on the same page with this and I feel someone dropped the ball with my daughters best interest being put aside.  She is not a great test taker,however,fail to understand how she can be pushed out the door without any kind of acknowledgment or reward for her years of being a good student.It is hard to help her feel successful when this whole ordeal has continued to make her feel like a failure . It is not right. The President does not like this exit exam law is being waived elsewhere,to be done away with at some point,but I care about this moment, my daughter,can't someone give a second opinion based on factual history of grades, that she is worthy of a diploma, and if not that, at least please, give her her dignity and respect to simply be in company of her classmates and give her family one day to show her they are proud and aware of what she has achieved.

Usage limited to universities

The term graduate in normally limited to universities. There should be some explanation as to why the term is used for schools in AmericaRoyalcourtier (talk) 02:25, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
