Coventry or Warwickshire

edit

Which side of the border is the school? The postal address is Coventry. Snowman 19:34, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's on the Warwickshire side. I believe the Coventry-Warwickshire border is actually located at the level crossing on Wheelwright Lane, around two minutes' walk from the school. Egdirf (talk) 23:22, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Houses

edit

Only Avon and Lancaster were in use when I started in the mid-1990s. Only Lancaster was in use by boarders when I left in 2003. It would be more accurate to describe the cause as a gradual shift in role, rather than a sudden change. The school's function and student make-up changed dramatically between when I started and when I finished, just as it changed over the years before I started. These changes weren't sudden, they are part of an ongoing process. Rje (talk) 23:10, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Have now made a few changes to the article which should reflect a gradual rather than a sudden shift in role. Good to see they now have a website although it's a pity there aren't more references to back up the information. Most of what I've added came from speaking to a friend who attended the school between 1979 and 1990. Paul Largo (talk) 11:46, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Staff to be at the School in both the 20th Century (1951–1999) and 21st Century (2000–)

edit

Not going to remove this just now, but this rather awkwardly named section seems unnecessary to me as it appears to repeat information included in a previous section. TheRetroGuy (talk) 22:32, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't think we need a list of everyoe who works at the school, so have removed this. But in case any of these people are notable in their own right (such as Sheila Carey), I've posted it here so I can Google them. Incidentally, still looking for a ref for Christine Marshall's takeover date from John Truman. Paul MacDermott (talk) 18:41, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I agree with the removal, per Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines#What not to include (WP:WPSCH/AG#WNTI). --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 18:44, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, and I've not found anyone notable so far. Wondering what what sort of animal Troy is though. :) Paul MacDermott (talk) 18:53, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

David J. Howe

edit

I'm wondering if the David Howe who authored the book about this school and the science fiction writer are one and the same. I suspect they may not be, because the only reference I can find about it here simply gives his name as David Howe. Any thoughts? Paul MacDermott (talk) 14:03, 27 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sci-fi author

edit

With all due credit to his writing efforts, I'm wondering if Paul Bowler and his sci-fi novel Frozen in Time are actually that notable for inclusion here. WAB Mag is an in-house publication from Warwickshire Association for the Blind, so I'm guessing its circulation is limited. I came across a couple of copies by chance last year, and I recall an interview in there with him. I thought I'd query this after this conversation on a similar topic of lesser known authors. I don't think Frozen in Time is published by a mainstream publisher, but I could be wrong. On the other hand there don't seem to be many visually impaired authors, so perhaps that does make him notable. Any thoughts? Paul MacDermott (talk) 16:44, 8 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

The notability of some of the entries in the alumni section seem a bit questionable to me. We have a couple of authors who as far as I can tell have only published one book each, and the founder of an organisation that appears to be little more than a social media group. There's also the travel guy, though I've seen him on BBC News a few times. Surely the list could do with a trim. 2A00:23C7:1B8E:C00:1CFE:B2D7:E9C1:88DA (talk) 20:32, 10 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
