Coordinate error

edit

{{geodata-check}} The coordinates need the following fixes:

The position for Ewelme, Oxfordshire is very wrong. It's position should be: 51.615991,-1.070309 not near leicester - thanks for this great service 82.25.68.25 (talk) 14:09, 18 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Looked pretty close to me - I tried your co-ords above, and it put me in the middle of the ocean. I have adjusted them slightly though, to better match with Google Maps. Avicennasis @ 15:55, 18 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
The co-ordinates were roughly correct, as verified by the location map in the infobox. Avicennasis's "fix" placed the location dot way off the map, which should have been a clue that this was not a "fix" at all. In fact it moved Ewelme from Oxfordshire two counties away to somewhere south of Basingstoke. Simply looking at a real Ordnance Survey map marked with real degrees and minutes with would also indicate that the former co-ordinates were roughly right and Avicennasis's "fix" was way off. I have therefore reverted Avicennasis's edit. Motacilla (talk) 22:53, 19 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
