This article seriously needs cleanup

edit

Unfortunately, whoever is working on this article now is having a hard time doing legible work. Someone who understands this subject (not me, sorry) should go through and do a thorough rework/cleanup. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 03:45, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Needs at least an obit for death

edit

I have searched for an obituary for this person and cannot find one. The current cite used for his death seems really nebulous. Please someone add a cite for an obituary as soon as possible. It seems like we're skating on thin ice re: WP:BLP as long as we don't. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 18:08, 10 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

@StefenTower Well, it is quite recent. Maybe wait a while.... I'm surprised this article was only created now, but I'm glad it's here. He was a great minister and is now in a better place. Penelope Grayson (talk) 09:24, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
This notice by an organisation may be the only obit we'll get, and it looks believable to me. Penelope, if you have independent sources for more about what he did in life, please add. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:11, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
The question is whether it is sufficient for purposes of citation. For that, it may be believable, but it is weak, and barely a confirmation, as it doesn't show the whole name and includes no other identifying aspects. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 15:37, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
While I see the problems, I still doubt that he was notable enough for a newspaper obit. - For many opera singers listed here as alive and old, I am afraid there was possibly just nothing official about their death decades after the prime of their career. Yvonne Ciannella was one, but in that case I was wrong twice: she really was that old, and there was a report when she died. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:48, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
While comparisons can be drawn, we are here to consider this subject, and if it turns out he wasn't notable enough for a newspaper obit, then maybe he wasn't notable? Or at least the question is something to be considered. I am content with giving this some time for wider acknowledgement of the death. Stefen Towers among the rest! @StefenTower I'd say he was quite notable in many religious churches all over the world, just not famous enough like one would say of Billy Graham. Penelope Grayson (talk) 16:01, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ordinarily an extended discussion on notability is handled through AfD. I am not currently challenging the notability - it is just a question that could open up given certain circumstances. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 16:03, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@StefenTower I think the most trusted resource that you'll get any information from is Freie Volksmission website, seeing as he did, kind of, manage it. So, yes, it is sufficient. And it was his family that put it up there, I believe. Penelope Grayson (talk) 15:55, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
If the subject is notable, there will be wider acknowledgement than that. I find myself in disagreement with your position. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 15:57, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@StefenTower I see. While it is personal to some, I understand your position. Penelope Grayson (talk) 16:03, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ewald Frank wasn't in relation with Colonia Dignidad

edit

Ewald Frank wasn't in relation with Colonia Dignidad it is not true change the end of article. Riil22 (talk) 13:46, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

The article - as the cited newspaper - says that there was a "presumed" connection, but the Krefeld organisation distanced itself from the other. What is your problem? Suggest a solution if you still have one, please. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:59, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
end of article must be«but Ewald Frank wasn't not in relation with Colonia Dignidad it not true» Riil22 (talk) 14:44, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
You are new to Wikipedia and need to learn a few things.
  1. You can't demand "end of article must be", - you are not the one to determine any "must".
  2. Wikipedia - and that may disappoint you - is not about what is true, but only what is verifiable. - We have a source that says Freie Volksmission Krefeld (FVK) was presumed to have a connection to Colonia Dignidad (CD). Some even went as far as CD's leader found refuge in Krefeld. We have another source saying that a court ruling said that certain rumors were not permitted to be published, - but no more. So we can't say any more.
  3. We do have style guides, telling you that "wasn't not" does not work. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:20, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
See WP:VNT and WP:NPOV. Wikipedia is a compendium of content based on reliable sources, not our personal opinions. No matter the article, stating "it is not true" in the prose is never allowed. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 15:33, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
