Oriental Hornet speculation edit

Oriental Hornets aren't actually doing photosynthesis. Xanthopterin was found to convert light energy to electrical energy, not aid in the conversion of CO2 to sugars. The journal article cited does not mention photosynthesis at all except for one sentence where they remark that pterins may have a role in the process with a reference to another source that makes this claim. Infrared and sulfur edit

This video claims, at 8 minutes, that the first non-oxygenic photosynthesis by purple bacteria used low energy infrared and produced sulphur. Sounds like oxygenic photosynthesis evolved by stages from the exothermic hydrothermal origins. Worth a mention here, if sourced. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H476c8UjLXY cheers, Michael C.
