Severance of article

edit

Due to different target markets, certifications and approvals, technical specifications, performance and also several construction differences between evektor two-seat airplanes it will be good to separate this article into four articles (EuroStar SL/SL+, SportStar MAX, SportStar RTC, Harmony LSA). Under Evektor-Aerotechnik there should be several separate articles about two seat airplanes as it is usual in other wikipedia aerospace producer articles. Combination of all our two-seat light sport/ultralight airplanes under one article called "SportStar" is incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mruzickaeve (talkcontribs) 12:39, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia generally groups the same aircraft together under one article if they are all derivatives of the same design and especially where there are no independent refs available to show that a variant is notable on it own, as required by WP:N. In this case, from what you have written above it seems that you want individual version articles to meet company marketing goals and this is not in line with Wikipedia's goals. Wikipedia is not Evektor-Aerotechnik's marketing website.
As I noted on your talk page if you represent the company you should not be editing these articles as you are in a conflict of interest. - Ahunt (talk) 13:11, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hello @Ahunt!
I'm agree with @Mruzickaeve (and I have no connection with Evektor ;-) "Wikipedia generally groups the same aircraft together under one article", that's not true for many many aircrafts. A few exemples: Robin aircrafts (Robin DR400, Robin DR100, Robin X4, Robin ATL...), Piper aircrafts (Piper PA-20 Pacer, Piper PA-18, Piper PA-23, Piper PA-24 Comanche....), Diamond aircrafts (Diamond DA20, Diamond DV20, Diamond DA40 Star, Diamond DA50...). And of course I don't talk about Airbus or Boeing.
So why a difference for this manufacturer ?
An other issue is that the article has the title of a specific aircraft (sportstar) and this maybe confused as other aircraft like eurostar or harmony are differents. R2d1-fr (talk) 14:42, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
This is a seven year-old discussion! Much has changed since then in how we handle aircraft articles. This article can be potentially split into the individual variants, as long as there are sufficient refs available for each variant to establish notability for each one. Splitting an article has to be done carefully to avoid duplication of information and make sure all are properly linked. You want to make sure that someone doesn't come along and merge/redirect back again. - Ahunt (talk) 14:53, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I can see splitting into at least 2 articles, and merge Evektor EPOS into one of them. But, yes, someone might come along and merge them back together especially if they share the same or related type certificates. BilCat (talk) 00:12, 22 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Note that the existence of Draft:Evektor EuroStar is relevant to this discussion, although it needs a lot of work to be ready for mainspace. - Ahunt (talk) 00:57, 22 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge of Draft:Evektor EuroStar into Evektor SportStar

edit

Draft may have information not in article. Robert McClenon (talk) 05:54, 4 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Robert McClenon:   Done - there honestly wasn't much to merge from Draft:Evektor EuroStar as it is very poorly written and is almost all duplication of this article. The draft can now be deleted. - Ahunt (talk) 13:23, 4 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
