My name is Jim Pickrell.

I wrote 95% of this article, and I approve of the changes which have been made.

I am qualified on this subject. I am the president of Brand X Internet, an Internet Service Provider based in Santa Monica California, and among other things, I develop Iphone games for a living. My products are all made in alliance with Apple and are "app store" apps which do not require unlocking of a phone. However, I am knowledgeable about this subject. I also teach computer courses at Los Angeles City College. Look me up on ratemyprofessor.com. You can see my ratings and my photo. I'm real. I'm legit. And I have written Wikipedia articles on other subjects.

So please remove the comments that this is a biased advertisement for a product written by someone with a commercial interest.

It's not.

It's a rather modest article about a subject of great interest. A new unlock for the iphone has been released. It's free. This is big news because for a long time nobody has been able to unlock the Iphone 5. I am a supporter of free speech and I do not think this information should be suppressed. I have no participation in evasi0n and have had no contact with it's authors, though I congratulate them on their achievement and would enjoy meeting them.

In the mean time, please remove the nasty notes and accusations from this totally legitimate, accurate, unbiased, and footnoted article.

Also: Will the person who has made the insulting accusations about this article please stand up and make their identity and affiliations known?

Free speech is very important and I don't think anyone should be able to block the free spread of information.

All best,

Jim Pickrell

Thanks Jim, great article!

I'm curious about var/Media (second paragraph under "How it works"), shouldn't the directory be var/Mobile? The Media directory is within var/Mobile as var/Mobile/Media. (I didn't want to edit until I know this to be true).

Also, I welcome more specifics about the technical aspects of the jailbreak. Gatortpk (talk) 08:52, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey Jim, Thanks for writing the article and convincing them to keep it :P I originally wrote it about 2-4 weeks before you did and they speedy deleted it for the whole "Promoting and Advertising" thing. I do believe that people should know about this, and it is free speech :)

Suggestion to retain context edit

This edit commented out some context about evasi0n as a jailbreak, but that seemed fine to include - even if it's similar to other jailbreaks, it's still true about evasi0n too. Dreamyshade (talk) 22:43, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Also, Talk:IOS jailbreaking#Potential sources for information about evasi0n has a bunch of links (about the original evasi0n) that may be useful for this article. Dreamyshade (talk) 23:13, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
