'Evans Blue is really blowing up. They are even better live! I actually did not know about them until their taproot tour when they came to Hollywood FL. I had went to see Taproot, and actually was in shock to see that I enjoyed hearing Evans Blue more. Ever since that day, I was hooked. Now Im the leader of their Florida chapter fan club, I can't wait until their show in September. Hopefully they will invite me to another after party! :)By the way their myspace is a cool site, they have really good songs on there, and a song you will only get there so enjoy!'

that's great...but this isn't a fan site. i'm also an evans blue fan, and i bought the cd, and was totally blown away by the songs, but still, this isn't really a fan site. Itachi1452 02:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Album

edit

I don't know who deleted the entire album page, but they better knock it off. --Discharger12 02:30, 7 September 2006 (UTC) Oh, I see. Just some moron changing Volume to Sound. --Discharger12 02:36, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

lol, probably came from itunes. if you upload the cd onto itunes, it reads it as the melody and energetic nature of sound instead of volume. ironically, the store has it correct.Itachi1452 02:43, 11 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Female Backup Vocalist

edit

Does anyone know who the backup vocalist for the songs "Beg" and "Possession" is? I would think she should have some mention as well. Hmmm, just looked at the album page, so it's Sarah McLachlan?Offkorn 23:09, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's Tara McLean singing back-up vocals on the Possession track, according to the CD cover booklet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.225.120.131 (talk) 00:38, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Band Picture

edit

Just a request for everyone to look out for a band picture that's fit for Wikipedia standards. The article is a tad lacking in comparison to some of the other band articles.. OEP 18:46, 4 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I did find this, but it is straight off the band web site so I'm not sure how copyrights, etc, should be handled. OEP 00:11, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

If somebody could use an updated band photo I would much appreciate it. I'm not sure how to go about the copyright issues, etc involved. Preferable a photo with the new drummer, from their website. 15 August 2007.

Info Box Redo

edit

I tried a mockup of using the musical artist wikiproject template rather than the Infobox_band that was there. It's over at User:OEP/Sandbox/Evans_Blue, using a still unconfirmed picture which I guess I'll change to the most appropriate copyrighted status if nobody sees otherwise what it is. If no one objects, I'll merge that box too. OEP 06:24, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nu Metal?

edit

the page used to also mention nu metal. personally, i don't think evans blue is a nu metal band, but i think that some songs have nu metal influences, like a cross and a girl named blessed, or even the opening riff for songs like stop and say you love me. Itachi1452 02:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

this is the crap people who used to listen to Linkin Park listen to now. fuck

i know, that sucks. once, a user wrote a 1 star review for cold but i'm still here from itunes, saying that they tried to write a linkin park style of music, and failed. wtf. Itachi1452 12:19, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Article Name

edit

Seeing as the only difference between this band's article name and the other article about a dye is the capitalization of the letter "b", I believe that the name of this article should be "Evans Blue (band)", as it would be more fitting for Wikipedia's guidelines.

Tattoo

edit

to whoever put the info about Matisyns tattoo: thank you, and I was wondering where you got the info? Did you just recognize the symbols because I notice that it is a fairly common symbol (the fish).

Genre

edit

I shall bring the discussion here so as to try to prevent an edit war continuing (I realise inadvertently that I have breached the 3RR and so will wait the alloted 24-hour period before correcting the page again). Here is the issue under discussion, which the other editor has thus far made no attempt to bring to the discussion page:

Evans Blue are not alternative metal. They do not meet the criteria for a heavy metal band, and so cannot be counted. Unless a RELIABLE source on the subject matter can be provided, they aren't keeping that tag.

Two sources have been provided. One is yourhub, which as far as I'm aware is not a reliable source. The second is the band's myspace page, which has never been a reliable source as bands can and will call themselves whatever they want.

Hence, no evidence of this genre tag has been provided, and as soon as is reasonable I shall correct the page, unless proper evidence can be provided. Prophaniti (talk) 20:04, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

You're confusing heavy metal with alt metal. Reading through the alternative metal article it's seems clear that Evans Blue fit into that category (they're also listed in List_of_alternative_metal_artists). While not mentioning Evans Blue, in the article bands very similar to EB are mentioned, such as Chevelle, a band that draws very similar influences. As for sources.. best I can find after looking further is Rhapsody listing them in the alt. metal section [1]. I admit this is a band that has received little coverage so finding sources online can be difficult. So.. perhaps we could consider replacing it with hard rock? MSN list them as such [2], as does AllMusic [3], mp3.com [4]. Anyhoo. Rehevkor (talk) 20:47, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, ultimately I'm not going to continue pressing it massively. My primary gripe is more concerning an attempted clean-up of the alternative metal genre as a whole, i.e. removing a number of bands who don't fit as heavy metal. Alt. metal is listed as a subgenre of heavy metal music, and so by definition all bands within it must be in significant part heavy metal. This, I feel, Evans Blue does not fulfil, although that's no judgment on their musical quality in case it's coming across as metal elitism like that. Hard rock would suit perfectly fine, in my opinion. Prophaniti (talk) 20:59, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I would like to point out, probably in vain, that the more you subdivide music, the harder it is to classify. I do know Wikipedia tries, and it's commendable that they'd like to accurately categorize everything, but when it comes to music, which can speak to a person's soul, it's really hard to quantify. I just call it rock. It might be alternative metal, though I don't really see it as metal, even when they get heavy. Is it really that much heavier than hard rock? Ask ten people and you're likely to get ten answers, but I don't think many would disagree with the assertion that Evans Blue is a rock band. NathanJ1979 (talk) 03:23, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Doesn't seem to fit

edit

"With the addition of Chandler and the energy that he brings to the mix, the band is writing their best and most diverse collection of songs to date. The new material stays true to the core fans with signature dark and heavy riffs, but it is simultaneously uplifting. Evans Blue has evolved, and these five musicians are ready to take the band to a higher level." Sounds a bit like an ad, I think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.215.184.199 (talkcontribs)

Gone! Not the first time this has happened, seems someone involved with the band seems to think Wikipedia is a place to post press releases. Removed unsourced sales info too. Rehevkor 02:46, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Free Evans Blue pictures and possible information on breakup

edit

In May of 2008 Evans Blue did a show in Richmond, VA, and I took about 200 pictures and posted them to the web. I've also posted a sort of "anti-copyright" saying that anybody can use them for whatever. I guess that might be similar to a Creative Commons license? I don't know about that, but I just wanted them available for the fans. So if you guys want one or more for the Wikipedia article, by all means download the image and re-host it here, resizing or cropping if necessary.

Evans Blue Pix

The only "catch" is that this was before Matisyn was fired.

And on that note, the band said they fired Matisyn for "business decisions". I might be able to shed some light on that phrase. During the show, before "Shine Your Cadillac", Matisyn steps forward and says something like "This song is our **** you to the Record Industry". The other guys really didn't seem to be behind him on that, they all just kind of looked shocked that he said it. And then two months later he's fired? I don't have a source - I was taking pictures, not shooting video. Maybe somebody else caught those comments on video, that day or at another gig maybe? NathanJ1979 (talk) 03:15, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nice work on the photos, while I can't comment on why he left the band (we'd need some more reliable sources for that), a photo would be great for the article. The free image guidelines here are a little strict, it has to be under a free licence, allowing for commercial use. The easiest way to do this would be to upload the image yourself, either releasing it to the public or using a suitable free licence, otherwise you'd need to add a tag to yours website specifying what kind of licence they're available under then someone else can place it on the article. That's the easiest way anyway. Let me know if you need a hand. As for Kevin no longer being in the band, for the moment that's not a problem, as a free image with Dan is likely to turn up any time soon, so may as well use one with Kevin for now. Thank you! (and apologies if I presume a lack of understanding of Wikipedia's rather complicated image policies, I don't claim to understand them all myself personally} Rehevkor 03:39, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
