Talk:Evangelical Church in the Rhineland

This is the English wikipedia. I advocate using the English name again. No reason has been given for the recent moves which were all done by the same user. The German name is never ever used in English language texts. --Mk4711 (talk) 22:22, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

wrong name edit

we should change the names because Evangelical is a specific subgroups. This is a protestant church. Not all protestant churches are evangelicals but all evangelicals are protestant. In german evangelical would be "pfingstkirche" or "charismatische" or evangelikale , but to use this term here is just wrong if the church does not identify as charismatic. I dont care much for them so i dont knwo if they do, so could anybody please verifxy and if-what I think- this protestant church isnt evangelical, then would someone fix the false friend-title? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8109:13C0:39D0:A4EB:F6FA:3245:2F1B (talk) 10:03, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Name vs. definition edit

The article's title is "Evangelical Church in the Rhineland", and then the article begins by defining the "Protestant Church in the Rhineland". That doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

I am aware of the difficulties of the word "evangelical", but my goodness, the "Evangelical Lutheran Church in America" (ELCA) is a mainline protestant church and by no means "evangelical" in the German sense of "evangelikal". So there definitely are both meanings of the word in English, and we should stick with the nomenclature Wikipedia uses for the other EKD churches, which is "Evangelical" every time.

This discussion has be led a million times, and it seems to come up again and again on the talk pages. And surprisingly, it also seems to find its way into the articles again and again, as can be seen here. --91.34.42.64 (talk) 09:19, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
