Fair use rationale for Image:Uleb Cup 2007 logo.gif edit

Image:Uleb Cup 2007 logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Drop the ULEB edit

EuroChallenge, EuroCup and EuroLeague are now organised by FIBA and ULEB so the ULEB in the name should be dropped. --SpeedKing (talk) 18:40, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Drop "Basketball" edit

Despite the website is called www.eurocupbasketball.com, the name of the competition is just "Eurocup" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.61.10.110 (talk) 09:42, 27 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Survey edit

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
User:Nickst then you need to replace above with multimove template. But in this case I wouldn't bother as I don't see this RM gathering support, sorry. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:16, 19 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

EuroCup and BCL edit

Sabbatino, sorry for pinging you here, but how could we protect this article? There’s an anonymous user who continues to edit this article, inserting biased content, asserting that the EC is the third-tier competition in Europe. -- Nick.mon (talk) 06:22, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dear, BasketFanatik1, could you explain your edits, thanks :) -- Nick.mon (talk) 07:06, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

BasketFanatik1, again, please let's discuss.-- Nick.mon (talk) 07:13, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
BasketFanatik1 CAN WE DISCUSS? You're becoming ridiculous... -- Nick.mon (talk)
BasketFanatik1, I think we should remove it from the article. -- Nick.mon (talk) 07:58, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Second-tier European competition edit

Andiii, Sabbatino, Asturkian, Rodw, User:Deepfriedokra, Mrschimpf, Dim.vas.nikol, Nightfall87, Erincoktem, BlackDraGoN, Tregias003. I ping you here because you're among the main contributors in articles regarding EuroCup and EuroLeague. There's an ongoing edit war started by BasketFanatik1 and his sockpupets (RoadWarrior79, 1568b2125, IP). He's asserting, without any consensus and citing only ONE source, that the EuroCup is widely regarded as the third-tier European professional basketball club competition. He's also editing EuroCup's article in Italian, French and Spanish Wikipedia. I've already reported him for sockpuppetry and requested for a protection of the page, but I'd like to know your opinions about these edits and, with your help, I'd try to find a good solution. Thanks. -- Nick.mon (talk) 09:25, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Actually, I am not a contributor to this page. You both may have exceeded WP:3rr, so it is good to seek consensus and 3rd opinions. Y'all both need to stop reverting and discuss. As to the sock accusation, that's pretty serious. You might want to file a WP:SPI report. @BasketFanatik1 and RoadWarrior79:, I invite you to stop edit warring and seek WP:consensus here. --Deep fried okra User talk:Deepfriedokra 09:31, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yes, Deepfriedokra, I was wrong in continuing this edit war and I apologize for that. But, as you can see above, I asked him to start a discussion, but he never answered me... -- Nick.mon (talk) 09:35, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Nick.mon First of all, thanks for asking my opinion. Even though I am not an active contributor to that page, I know for sure that EuroCup Basketball is not third tier. Not even the Basketball Champions League is officially a third tier competition. Both are to be officially classified as second tier competitions. Fact is, though, that, whenever economically possible, often teams prefer to play the EuroCup basketball instead of the BCL making the EuroCup, de facto, the second tier European competition and the BCL the third tier (see, e.g. Virtus Bologna last season which was repeatedly threatened by FIBA because they chose EC over BCL). There are ongoing discussions and it's obvious that this is a mere political conflict between Euroleague and FIBA. If necessary I can provide some more sources, but for now I would definitely say that EuroCup is not a third tier competition, neither officially nor de facto. Andiii (talk) 10:19, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Andiii for your precious contribution. I totally agree with you, in fact I even proposed this version: Behind the EuroLeague, the EuroCup is widely regarded as the second-tier European professional basketball club competition,[1][2][3][4] however, in recent years its second-tier position has been threatened by the growth of the Basketball Champions League.[5] I thought that this was a good compromise. -- Nick.mon (talk) 10:33, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Nick.mon I think that's a correct statement (I'd just use "challenged" instead of "threatened"). Thanks! -- Andiii (talk) 11:44, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
This has been discussed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Basketball/Archive 14#Edits that say the European-wide basketball leagues have no ranking or tiers, and cannot be considered at any different levels back in 2018. My stance did not change since the last discussion – it is WP:OR to classify international European leagues into tiers. There are no sources for that and there is no basketball pyramid for international European club tournaments. I am not going to discuss this further, because discussions about tiers took place in two or three different places in 2018. – Sabbatino (talk) 15:23, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Ok, so I think we should remove this sentence from the beginning of the article. -- Nick.mon (talk) 15:34, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
