Reviewer: Reid,iain james (talk · contribs) 22:51, 29 September 2013 (UTC) I'll review this article. I have already found some things that could be corrected or changed.

• In its taxobox shouldn't it have a Subspecies header or something like Subgroups saying "see text"
• In Description - "The voice..." and "The alarm call" should be changed to "Its voice" and "Its alarm call" or "The voice/alarm call of the Eurasian Wryneck"
• In Distribution and Habitat - Specifically where in north africa does J. t. mauretanica live, does it live in the green region of the range map or the blue region? Iainstein (talk) 22:59, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
• It also mentions nothing about J. t. chinensis and J. t. himalayana.
• Is it possible to get a range map of where the different subspecies live, to add to the article in addition to the summer and winter range map? Iainstein (talk) 00:08, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
• Could more images be added to the article and can the image in description have a caption added?
• In Distribution and habitat - it would make more sense if you had all the information on the range of the subspecies together and not separated by "Eurasian Wrynecks also inhabit..." which you should move to the end of the paragraph. Iainstein (talk) 13:42, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

I have now dealt with the points you raise above with the exception of the range map for the subspecies. I really do not have a suitable source for such a map quite apart from having a lack of skill in creating a map. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:10, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Well I've moved it, but it is not generally thought to be a good thing to squash text between two images. I could remove the video clip, but it is quite interesting behaviour. What do you think? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 14:10, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

I just realized that the image could be move lower into the Breeding section. It would make sense because the caption is "Eurasian Wrynecks use their necks in display". Iainstein (talk) 14:28, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Comment I wonder if the "broad coverage" criteria of WP:WIAGA is currently being met. Much of the article is sourced to to a 70-year old book, and neglects recent research on the subject. A Web of Knowledge search turns up 445 articles on the topic, none of which are used. Here a few examples of recent research that might be used to help beef up coverage:

There are also many secondary sources published in the last 10-15 years that would have more up-to-date coverage than the 1943 text currently being relied on. The fact that the book is old is not very relevant because the bird will likely not have changed its appearance or habits in the meantime. However, I'll have a look at the suggested sources and see what seems suitable to add to the article. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:27, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

It is relevant, because it is used as the main source for the article, and thus misses out on improvements on our understanding of the bird's biology that have accrued in the past 70 years. Let me know if you need help accessing any articles. Sasata (talk) 18:41, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for the offer but I don't believe the source clarified the position of the Nesoctitinae. I don't personally think a cladogram is necessary to fulfil the criteria of "broad in its scope". Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:10, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
