X-Play edit

Of interest

On the game review show "X-Play", the announcer introduced the hosts by stating they're "Still waiting for the Eugenics War." (X-Play often has the announcer state odd or humorus comments before introducing the hosts). After the introduction, co-host Adam Sessler quips "Roddenberry promised genocide, and we got squat." The joke is that The Eugenics Wars, in Star Trek, were supposed to occur in 1992. Fortunately, such a war did not occur.

Who really knows what happened in Tiananmen Square ;)

37 Million died when? edit

This article contradicts itself regarding the 37 million deaths mentioned by Spock in "Bread and Circuses". Did they die in the Eugenics Wars or were they victims of Colonel Green? Someone who has seen the relevant episodes should fix this.

Like Dune? edit

I don't understand why this is "like the Butlerian Jihad in the Dune universe"? It doesn't seem like the Jihad had anything to do with genetics. I don't know much about either, so I don't want to step in and edit it, but if someone could clarify this point, that would be helpful. --Schwael 17:11, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Similar plot devices. Both are fictional events that results in a socail change that ends a certain technology. In The Butlerian Jihad, it results in a ban on thinking machine technology. The Eugenics Wars results in a ban on genetic engeering.--Eldarone 03:03, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
But unless it's from a cited source, it appears to be original research. Pairadox 06:06, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Help on another article edit

Can anyone who has read the Greg Cox books, confirm or deny the Eugenics War trivia on Beauty and the Beast (TV series). I'm guessing it's just humour, but have not read the Eugenics Wars books.

I can confirm it, being the one who wrote it. The book clearly describes Vincent [and Jarod Russell, and Maggie Erickson]] as being Khan's fellow Chrysalis products. This is first noted on Philip Jose Farmer's Wold Newton Crossover Chronology--Stripey1 23:02, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Picture of Eugenics War Soilder? edit

In season one, episode one, of Star Trek TNG, Q morphs into a soldier from what could be the Eugenics Wars not sure if there is enough to say for sure though. However it may be a world war 3 uniform, since soldiers appear wearing the uniform in 2079 (26 years after the end of the wwIII) during the trial Q later forces the crew to face.

just a thought edit

In Voyager the ship goes to 1996 and LA is not effected by the war, in Enterprise the Augment Crises, and in TOS states that it took place in the late 1990's. but in Storm Front (Enterprise) the "reset timeline" shows nothing about this war, but does show the 911 attacks, what if the war started in 2001 and not 1993 and the real life War on Terror (WoT) became the Eugenics War (EW) below are some key links for this:

1. The WoT is a "global war" as was the EW

2. after the first few years the press has cut back on the WoT, per the information on Spock's computer the information was sketchy at best (30 or 37 million dead, what area's effected, the general population not knowing all that much on how it started, ect)

the only bad thing (bad for the Star Trek shows is the "supermen" issue but the WoT is also called a war of religion, and the belief in a god or "superman")

like i said it's a thought but it would fit and still give us humans time to kiss and make up before the nuclear bombs of WW3 started to fall -- (marc) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.190.125.2 (talk) 13:30, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Messy article edit

This article should try to describe the Eugenics Wars as originally conceived, and then explicitly describe the ways that later writers tried to retcon them. It's virtually impossible to make out a coherent story of the Eugenics Wars otherwise - as it stands, this article is virtually unreadable. john k (talk) 20:08, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
