Comment removed from article

Goldstien actually didnt work with cathode rays he did something similar with canal rays and shot the ray through an annode...someone should check this data. Eugen Goldstein, Cathode Rays were NAMED by Goldstein, so yes, he apparently did work with cathode rays [...], Cathode Ray Tube history, Goldstein, Eugen (1850-1930) This one refers to Canal Rays rather than Cathode Rays, Eugen Goldstein. So, take it for what it's worth. Most references I see tend to use the term "cathode rays." Seems to make cathode rays a notable attribution to Goldstein. Especially when a number of physics sites and educations institutions seems to all say the same thing. Now, whether they're ALL using the wrong terminology is up for debate. But so far work with "cathode rays" seems to be attributable to Goldstein. Yeah? Mgmirkin 20:09, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Rename? "Eugen Goldstein"

Sources I'm seeing online seem to indicate the proper name should be "Eugen" rather than the "Eugene" currently used? See some of the above notes on the prior topic. Pretty much all of them refer to "Goldstein, Eugen" or "Eugen Goldstein." So, we might want to change the namespace to reflect correct spelling, if that's in fact the case? Likewise, would want to make any necessary edits to the article itself. Likesise, then a redirect from "Eugene Goldstein" -> "Eugen Goldstein" would also be appropriate once moved, so people can still find the article. Mgmirkin 20:12, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Changes to the article

I tried to get the names, work, and credit correct with my recent additions, mostly using the English language reference now added. (I don't have access to the German originals, and I'm rather slow with the German language.) Other items:

• The burial site needs checking. I will try and find the Nature obituary in the next week or so.
• The comments in the Other section need verification.
• Photographs would be a good addition.

* The article needs to be renamed to correct Goldstein's name. I can't get to it just now. Perhaps someone else can. - Astrochemist 10:42, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Bad article

Unfortunately 75% of this article is simply wrong and the German version is even more false. I've written the first reliable biography of Goldstein but now I am surprised to see the Goldstein worked "as a Jewish Immigration lawyer"? I've tried to locate your publications for about two weeks and did, in fact, add one (on comet tails) to the article's references. The changes I've made to the article are largely to try and better organize it. Modifications to the content were based mainly on English-language sources. As I wrote in the "Changes to the article" section above, there certainly are items in need of verification. Also, I can't find a verifiable copyright-free photograph. What is is about the article that is inaccurate? The header tag said to look here, but I can't find anything questionable except the Jewish lawyer statement, which has been removed. I did read one of the article's references and it compares well with what's in the article itself. Therefore, I deleted the inaccuracy tag since no evidence is provided here that the article is still inaccurate, about 6 weeks after the tag was first introduced. Can anyone specify any remaining inaccuracies? I would be glad to follow up on this if some specifics can be given. -- 72.75.71.105 16:14, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
