Rewriting

I would still strongly prefer a totally nuke and rewrite but I am pleased to give User:Himesh84 the opportunity to prove he's willing/able to address our issues.

I've rewrote the first paragraph. I call upon someone to fill in the [citation needed] tags for me. They're very aggressive and may be addressed using only one or two sources. These sources may already exist in the article. Having no knowledge of the topic, I need the sources explained to me like I have no idea if Sri Lanka is in Asia or Africa.

Please let me know if this sounds unproductive. TippyGoomba (talk) 01:10, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

Tippy, Sri Lanka is a large island off the southeastern coast of India. On most older maps, it's shown by its British colonial name, "Ceylon." To the east is the Bay of Bengal and Myanmar (formerly Burma). To the north is Bangladesh. To the northwest is India. The Tamil Tigers were fighting the Sri Lankan government, for several years but were defeated in 2009. Recently tension has been increasing again. That's what this is about. It's a lot like the Balkans. Long ago, imperial powers forced the relocation of thousands of Tamils, displacing Sinhalese from their traditional homelands, and now the descendants of both groups of people are trying to sort it out, much like the Serbs and the Bosniaks. Don't need references for The ethnic conflict of Sri Lanka is a conflict mainly between Sinhalese and Sri Lankan Tamils - Most of the articles backs the claim. All are talking about it
The conflict started to appear[citation needed] when Kalinga Magha invaded Kingdom of Rajarata in 1215 - It is referenced. Rajaveliya is the primary source Ethnic conflict and reconciliation in Sri Lanka - By Chelvadurai Manogaran is the secondary level source.

see this sentence in the book - The Sinhalese chronical rajavaliya ......

conflict between Sri Lankan Tamils and Muslims - Details above 10 muslim massacres are in the article.
From 1215 to 1450 Sinhalese and Tamils involved in many battles - already in - see battles - aryacharkrawarthi, sapumal in History of Sri Lanka - by De Silva. Also see - Jaffna Kingdom section Aryacakravarti dynasty.
From 1215 to 1326 significant amount of Tamils migrated from India to Sri Lanka,[citation needed] settling mainly in Jaffna Peninsula.[citation needed] Smaller groups also settled in Vanni and eastern coastal areas. - De silva's book --Himesh84 (talk) 03:46, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
Last night and this morning, I copy edited the article lead section and the first few headlined sections. I will do more as time permits. Let's all try to get along and work together to bring this article up to Wikipedia standards. My contribution so far has been correcting grammar, punctuation, syntax and usage, and toning down the obvious bias. I haven't checked any of the sources yet. It appears other editors have been working on that. Himesh seems to have a lot of knowledge about Sri Lanka and the history of the conflict. GoodeOldeboy (talk) 13:30, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your contribution. It is really appreciating --Himesh84 (talk) 16:21, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Working on this is difficult and time-consuming. The section on the ancient history of Sri Lanka doesn't seem to belong here. I suggest removing it, creating a new article called "Ancient history of Sri Lanka" or something similar, and summarizing it with one paragraph and a link in this article. How do you feel about this suggestion? GoodeOldeboy (talk) 21:38, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Appreciate your effort and feedback. From which section to which sections ? --Himesh84 (talk) 04:57, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
