Talk:Estelle Winwood

References? edit

I'm guessing that two of the people in the following sentences (from "Personal Life") were one-time husbands of Estelle Winwood: "Guthrie McClintic had also been married to actress Katharine Cornell. Arthur Chesney was a brother of the Oscar-winning actor Edmund Gwenn..."

One might wonder why, while reading an "encyclopedia," I should be required to 'guess.' Arcanicus (talk) 06:06, 8 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Bouquet? edit

I removed this sentence:

"She received a bouquet of flowers from the Queen, as is customery for all British subjects/citizens who turn 100..."

because it isn't "customery" at all; however, centenarians do receive a congratulatory message from HM, formerly as a telegram. Did Winwood get a telegram, a bouquet, or both? Wilus 14:23, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

A 1968 interview indicates her first marriage was at age 18 to Henry Chesney. Her "other husband" was mentioned as Francis Barlow Bradley. This was also mentioned in a 1944 article . In both cases, no mention of McClintic. [The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, OH, April 21, 1968],
She did claim to have been married to Guthrie McClintic in a 1983 article, but said he was after Chesney. However, aside from her recollection, I have not been able to find anything to corroborate this. Stembark (talk) 22:18, 10 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
