Here's a start. Anyone else want to expand? Chris.let (talk) 10:44, 18 December 2015 (UTC) The article reads like an advertizing. NPO anyone? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.153.178.107 (talk) 15:42, 8 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Extra material in discographies

edit

On the Jazz project, and elsewhere on Wikipedia, in discographies we usually enter the title of the album, the label, and the date of release—nothing more. In jazz, sometimes there are co-leaders, essentially a partner album. In these cases, when there is no clear leader, when it isn't clear whose album it is, then we might add "with" next to the first person listed.

Information like "live" and "double album" isn't necessary. If relevant, it belongs in the body text, not the discography. Adding this information invites people to do so in other discographies. Then the discography gets cluttered with unnecessary detail. I stand by the changes I made, but I'm willing to listen to arguments to the contrary. Thanks. Hi @Vmavanti, thanks for bringing this up. I don't have a strong argument to counter yours; I would simply say that the extra line adds information that is relevant to the reader, and in my view, it doesn't create unnecessary clutter. I'm not sure about your slippery slope argument, either, but I could be wrong. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 02:59, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the quick response. I would add only one thing: More information doesn't always mean better.Vmavanti (talk) 18:32, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
By the way, since you are a Czech specialist, you might take a look at Barbora Řeháčková. She is on the jazz Cleanup Listing as an orphaned file. If you can find more sources about her, or Wikipedia articles that link to her, I would appreciate that.Vmavanti (talk) 18:35, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Vmavanti, I suspect you didn't intend to be patronizing, but when you say something like "More information doesn't always mean better", it sure comes across that way. Trust me, in my 43 years, I've realized that simple truism more than once.
As for Řeháčková: I'm not an expert at anything, let alone Czech—it just happens to be an interest of mine. I have a long list of pages I'd like to get through one day, and hers would just be another addition to it, unless there's a pressing reason to address it sooner? I wasn't trying to be patronizing. I apologize if that's how it sounded. Nor do I expect you to jump onto my suggestion. Just asking. Thanks for your help.Vmavanti (talk) 23:30, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Vmavanti, I know you didn't mean it—that's what I said earlier. I will add Řeháčková to my list 🙂 Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 23:37, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
