Reformatting edit

The page has to be reformatted and reordered. I actually really like how the "Works" section is done, but I'm going to separate the awards from it, and put all film and then music together in the works section. Also, I'm going to un-bullet her minibiography and make it into actual paragraphs (including adding to it). This is my warning, discuss if you don't want it changed. Fair use rationale for Image:Pacchigi.jpg edit

Image:Pacchigi.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:16, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Profile section edit

I removed the Profile section as it was either redundant information already available elsewhere in the artilce or non encyclopedic data (height and zodiac sign). --moyogo 19:34, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Her mother is an ethnic Berber-Algerian, born and raised in France. She doesnt have any ethnic French blood. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.83.145.241 (talk) 00:06, 10 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

User: 20 century boytalk Mother isn't born in France, She's born in algeria and she stayed just a few years in F--Discodisco (talk) 17:32, 25 September 2010 (UTC)rance. She might be Mixed French Algerian or it's an advertising argument because France has a romantic image in japan? : http://www.cnngo.com/tokyo/life/erika-sawajiri-548777Reply

NO Her mother is Algerian , not only " berber" the whole population is this country have berber blood !!! her country is algeria , have u any problem with this nationaly to try to erase it every time ? she clearly said it !! and she also said that her mother listened to arabic music U have a problem with it ?

Last thing , her mother didnt even born in france or something , she came there at 24 years !! SO she was born in algeria , her nationality is algerian , she has an algerian passport Algeria is NOT a french colony anymore !! thx --Discodisco (talk) 17:38, 25 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you stop to read the text, you will see that it does not say where her mother was born. The references say she was French, so that is how it should be worded. --DAJF (talk) 00:09, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

GI BACK TO SCHOOL she clearly said

My mum was born in Algeria but moved here from Paris when she was 24 or 25, met my father and stayed. My grandparents died already and I never met them, so I have no contact with my mom's side, but she has six brothers and sisters that I met when I was a child," she explains

incredible bad faith !!! Algeria is a country , like Japan it s a nationality u get it ? if u erase algerian mother , u erase japanese father too OK ? ALGERIAN MOTHER BORN IN ALGERIA what is your problem ? She has a dual nationality , she wasn t born as a stateless personn ok ? --Discodisco (talk) 12:39, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Strictly speaking, she doesn't have dual nationality. There is nothing readily visible to indicate Erika Sawajiri was ever entered into any other country besides Japan for citizenship (and going through all those back numbers of スポニチ is crazy) and regardless, at age 22 all Japanese or part-Japanese children with more than one nationality must choose either Japanese or renounce it. Renunciation means foreigner status, inability to vote, own property, receive certain kinds of government benefits, etc, so long-term Japanese residents of mixed parentage who have a choice usually choose Japanese.
Blood is a different matter entirely. Even the JP Wikipedia page is clear her mother is a Berber born in Algeria and raised in France, but it also calls her フランス人 which BLUNTLY implies she is a French citizen. There is nothing about the mother retaining Algerian citizenship or passport and even スポニチ or all the weekly gossip magazines aren't going to do an in-depth article on her mother, who is not a major figure in Japan by any stretch of the imagination.
I am going to add a comment about Berber extraction because that is how it reads in JP Wikipedia and it is only fair to duplicate. Jun Kayama (talk) 06:13, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Also, since the JP Wikipedia entry states 「アルジェリア生まれフランス育ちのベルベル人」 which equates to Algerian-born French-raised Berber I have adjusted the biographical entry accordingly. Jun Kayama (talk) 06:21, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
You should only use the content from JP Wikipedia if that content has reliable sources. Tweisbach (talk) 08:32, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
The CNNGo interview is already referenced. I switched the URL from the English to the Japanese version (both are accessible from the same page) and the Japanese, in her words, is quite clear on the biographical information. Backing it up is problematic since Japanese celebrities do not often have much online to fill in the blanks (ワイドショー chatter doesn't lend itself to linking) and she's redone her webpages after leaving Stardust with minimal information compared to previous. Jun Kayama (talk) 13:57, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
There seems to be some misunderstandings in this discussion, mother was born in Algeria, got the french nationality in France and moved to japan. Erika only have japanese nationality. 20 century boy (talk) 11:12, 15 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
There is no misunderstanding. She's from 東京都練馬区. The source of the confusion was banned several years ago. Jun Kayama 20:03, 14 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Weird contents edit

This article is weird, the contents about riding horses and her father leaving home then coming back don't make sense. JoshuSasori (talk) 22:46, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Citation tag November 2013 edit

she's sexy, she's interesting, but: she's not only currently kissing into the system she'd once rebelled against but: not many people know or care about her in English speaking countries... i won't even hold that against her but: please provide some (reliable) proof, OR: delete the fluff thats padding this article: Fuwa Fuwa Fluff... come to think of it, i'll spend some time myself nipping and tucking here this week... only cuz i luv ya Erica, though you (or yours) might not be satisfied with the results...
