Emmerdale character articles; invitation to discussion edit

I've begun a discussion regarding the atrocious state of character articles within the Emmerdale universe. These articles stand to be deleted unless corrective action is taken. Please join the conversation at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Emmerdale#Serious problems across the board; let's start with character articles. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 16:00, 1 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've made a start with this - I'll try to do more, but bear in mind there is more than 26 years to cover! Smurfmeister (talk) 13:33, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Arrival edit

I wonder if instead of saying "Eric arrives in Emmerdale (formerly called Beckindale) in September 1986..." it would be better to say "Eric arrives in Beckindale (as the village that would become Emmerdale was then called) in September 1986..."? At the moment I think it reads as if the name change had occurred by 1986, when it did not happen until 1993, and I think a rewording would make it clearer. @Dunarc: Hello – I've just seen this! Coincidentally, I just changed that sentence while I was improving this article as part of the tasks I set for the Emmerdale task force. I hope you prefer the sentence structure I used – have you considered joining the task force? – DarkGlow (contribstalk) 01:44, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks - I think that that is much better. Don't think I see Emmerdale enough these days for the task force. Dunarc (talk) 20:11, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Dunarc: Thank you! And the task force isn't just for current viewers, a large part of the task is changing the tense used in the storyline sections from past to present perfect tense, which doesn't really require knowledge. But it's up to you, of course, no pressure – if it's not something you're interested in, it's understandable.  DarkGlow (contribstalk) 21:19, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@DarkGlow: Thanks. I'll certainly keep it in mind for the future. Dunarc (talk) 23:40, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
