I lived in Shropshire through the time Cockeram was Ludlow's MP and can remember the news over his resignation over the shares applications. I have decided to amend this sentence without citation, which follows a cited one:

This followed Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's privatisation of both organisations, [BT and British Gas] which allowed members of the public to buy shares in them.

Although privatisation may have been a policy Mrs Thatcher strongly promoted and endorsed I feel the sentence as written is contentious as it gives too much personal credit to her for the privatisation and makes this read like an autocratic act of hers, whereas its implementation involved other government officials (i.e a wider head count) with the backing of properly passed legislation. I have changed this to "the Thatcher government's privatisation" to better reflect the way it was enacted. I am adding details cited to a report on Cockeram's death in a recent Shropshire newspaper into this article.Cloptonson (talk) 17:44, 8 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
