This name as a redirect edit

After being speedily-deleted as an article, a redirect was created under this name to 2015 Texas pool party incident. User:VQuakr retargeted it to McKinney, Texas#Police Department (McKinney Police Department), citing WP:BLPNAME. While I fully support that policy, as I understand it, it means we shouldn't include private names in articles where it's not justified. This name is indeed not used at present in 2015 Texas pool party incident, although it has been widely circulated in the media. However, I don't think BLPNAME stops us creating names as redirects to articles. We shouldn't reveal the person's name to someone who comes across the article; but anyone who searches for the name knows it already, and there's surely a 99% chance that they're looking for our article on the recent incident rather than the article on the local police department. I've restored the original redirect. If this is still a matter of dispute, it should be taken to the BLP noticeboard, or redirects for discussion. Robofish (talk) 23:02, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, User:VQuakr doesn't have a leg to stand on here. I wrote a BLP which tried to portray Officer Casebolt in the best of possible lights, but alas it was AFD'd per above. -- Kendrick7talk 05:38, 11 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
