Neutral point of view edit

Hello @Mjames.z:

If you believe this article as a whole is not taking a neutral point of view feel free to discuss it here. But please do not remove well cited facts just because they reflect badly on the company. Are you connected with the company at all? Chidgk1 (talk) 14:57, 4 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

The information under the title of Eren Holding is incomplete and incorrect. Especially in Eren Holding Title "Due to its cement factory, coal-fired power stations in Turkey and coal-fired steam boiler[3] it is one of the largest private sector greenhouse gas emitters in Turkey.[4]" is not the main feature of our group that needs to be introduced. Information about our company has been published at https://www.erenholding.com.tr/page/history-121. If there will be no revision according to here, please remove the paragraph I mentioned. Hbartinli (talk) 05:25, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello @Hbartinli
1) Thank you for the link - I have added it as a cite for the first paragraph of the history section. Do you have a source for the financial information in the infobox or indeed more recent numbers? Perhaps you have an annual report and can tell me the page number?
2) What exactly is incorrect please?
3) Please reply here exactly what you would like added. Chidgk1 (talk) 10:19, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello, the information below is not correct, it is a report from 2017 and it makes us think that our company has a negative impact on Wikipedia users. While you introduce Eren Holding in the title, you introduce our group as such a negative in the 3rd paragraph. While there is much more detailed information on our website www.erenholding.com.tr, such a negative statement is not appropriate.
Wrong and outdated statement
""Due to its cement factory, coal-fired power stations in Turkey and coal-fired steam boiler[3] it is one of the largest private sector greenhouse gas emitters in Turkey.[4]""
If you wish, we can prepare a summary on our website and provide you with a complete and updated version of the entire text. Hbartinli (talk) 10:53, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Which part of the sentence "Due to its cement factory, coal-fired power stations in Turkey and coal-fired steam boiler[3] it is one of the largest private sector greenhouse gas emitters in Turkey.[4]" is wrong please? Chidgk1 (talk) 11:59, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
This sentence is a completely negative statement and constitutes a negative approach for an award-winning organization like the one below. This sentence should be completely removed. The news source report is also very old.

I have removed the 2017 source from the lead of the article as there are more recent sources in the section. Chidgk1 (talk) 12:19, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
You deleted the report but the following statement still remains? I have difficulty in explaining, but this information was entered based on the report you deleted and creates a negative view of our company. I strongly urge you to remove it.
"Due to its cement factory, coal-fired power stations and coal-fired steam boiler it is one of the largest private sector greenhouse gas emitters in Turkey." Hbartinli (talk) 13:18, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Dear authority, the following statement is not found in the source number 3 you mentioned. In fact, when you click on our website in the source number 3, such information does not come. This paragraph should be removed immediately. In addition, the cement factory has nothing to do with the subject.
The statement that should be removed from the title of Eren Holding is below;
Due to its cement factory, coal-fired power stations and coal-fired steam boiler[3] it is one of the largest private sector greenhouse gas emitters in Turkey. 212.174.56.166 (talk) 05:18, 16 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Greenhouse gas emissions? edit

According to https://enerji.gov.tr/infobank-climate-change-and-international “Turkish Electricity Production and Electricity Consumption Point Emission Factors, which enable corporate companies to calculate Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions originating from electricity consumption, are published by our Ministry.”

But I am confused by the word “Point” in the above sentence. Does that mean that nowadays a company can make a power purchase agreement to buy electricity from Eren? Chidgk1 (talk) 15:07, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ah now I suspect it is a mistranslation of “Ayrıca, kurumsal firmaların kullanarak elektrik tüketimleri kaynaklı Kapsam 2 sera gazı emisyonlarını hesaplayabilmelerine de olanak sağlayan Türkiye Elektrik Üretimi ve Elektrik Tüketim Noktası Emisyon Faktörleri Bakanlığımız tarafından yayınlanmaktadır.” from https://enerji.gov.tr/bilgi-merkezi-iklim-degisikligi-ve-uluslararasi-muzakereler
Possibly the English should be “The Energy Ministry publishes Turkish electricity production and consumption emission factors, which enable companies to calculate Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions from purchased electricity.” Chidgk1 (talk) 15:48, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
According to https://enerji.gov.tr/Media/Dizin/EVCED/tr/%C3%87evreVe%C4%B0klim/%C4%B0klimDe%C4%9Fi%C5%9Fikli%C4%9Fi/EmisyonFaktorleri/BilgiFormu.pdf imported coal emitted 872g CO2eq in 2020. Chidgk1 (talk) 15:52, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
The information in this title is outdated and misunderstood as it is published with old reports. We kindly request that this paragraph be removed as it misrepresents the activities of our company. Hbartinli (talk) 05:18, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have amended the section to remove a source now considered unreliable and added a new sentence based on a new source. Chidgk1 (talk) 10:28, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

We want to remove this title and add our new news and investments. 77.67.170.18 (talk) 17:26, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have removed tourism and consumer durables but I don't see a problem with the greenhouse gas section as there is no separate Wikipedia article for your subsidiary Eren Enerji so it is covered in this article. What exactly do you wish to add and do you have sources for the existing info which is tagged "citation needed"? Chidgk1 (talk) 17:40, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
The part published with the title "Greenhouse gas emissions" does not reflect the activities of our company correctly and the source reports are very old. This paragraph should be removed completely. It was first added in 2020. However, at the top under the title of Eren Holding;
"Due to its cement factory, coal-fired power stations in Turkey and coal-fired steam boiler[3] it is one of the largest private sector greenhouse gas emitters in Turkey.[4]"
The sentence is also inaccurate statements based on old reports. It is intended to show the activities of our company negatively. We strongly request that this content be removed.
However, we still have activities in the field of tourism in some places. It belongs to Bodurm district. These do not reflect our organization.
Please edits. Hbartinli (talk) 05:14, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have replied above about GHG. Please explain exactly what change (if any) you wish regarding tourism. Chidgk1 (talk) 10:30, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dear authority, the following statement is not found in the source number 3 you mentioned. In fact, when you click on our website in the source number 3, such information does not come. This paragraph should be removed immediately. In addition, the cement factory has nothing to do with the subject.

If you click on the archived link of source 3 it says “The coal powered steam boiler with a capacity of 1x240 ton/h was put into operation on behalf of Modern Karton.”
However as the GHG from that boiler is negligible compared to the coal-fired power stations I accept that the boiler is not important enough for the lead and will move it down into the body of the article. Chidgk1 (talk) 13:32, 16 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

It is not mandatory to log in but as it can be difficult for us to communicate with people who edit without logging in I think it will be easier for all of us if you continue to log in as individuals such as @Hbartinli or any other individual user-ids other people in your company wish to create. Wikipedia user ids are for individuals so please do not share user-ids or use @Eren holding - thanks. Chidgk1 (talk) 14:15, 16 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Your ip address is not blocked at present but as you have a connection with the company “you are strongly discouraged from editing affected articles directly” according to Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. I don’t have the power to block your ip address myself but if you do edit the article I am pretty sure others will check what you write and might block the address. You might also like to read Conflict-of-interest editing on Wikipedia. My offer to update the financial details in the infobox is still open if you would like to tell me exactly where they are - for example the page number(s) in your annual report. Confusion between energy and electricity? edit

Eren are not the only people who seem to be confusing energy and electricity - this seems to be unfortunately widespread. We can see from fig 1. on page 3 of https://shura.org.tr/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/SHURA-2023-08-YO-Elektrifikasyon.pdf that only 20% of Turkey's primary energy is from electricity.

So if Eren really supplies 7% of ENERGY that would surprise me. Has anyone got a secondary source for that? Chidgk1 (talk) 06:38, 30 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Erk Ezgi: Now that the Sakarya gas field is producing it seems unlikely to me that Eren supplies 7% of Turkey's ENERGY. But I could be wrong. Unfortunately many people confuse ENERGY and ELECTRICITY, and this is why I am asking for a secondary source to back up Eren's claim. Chidgk1 (talk) 12:17, 30 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Erk Ezgi: Ekonomist quotes Ahmet Eren as saying "Türkiye'nin tükettiği elektriğin yüzde 7,5'ini biz karşılıyoruz." so it is a percentage for electricity not energy. Also the article is from early 2019 so probably he is talking about annual electricity generation for 2018. As you know a lot of new generation capacity has been installed since then so Eren's percentage may have changed. Chidgk1 (talk) 06:47, 2 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Suggestions for PR people edit

Guys,

Have you read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and/or tr:Vikipedi:Çıkar çatışması?

There are plenty of non-controversial improvements to this and other articles you could suggest on this and other talk pages.

For example as you can see at Template:Infobox company you could suggest more info for the infobox.

Or you could upload good quality pictures or video to Wikimedia Commons https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard from within your factories. For example I am sure you could make a better short video of a paper machine than https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Paper_machine.ogv which is currently in the paper machine article.

Or provide technical info about dispatchable generation at Talk:ZETES power stations as I see Zetes 3 is modern so presumably is good at ramping up and down which is maybe needed to balance renewables nowadays? Chidgk1 (talk) 13:45, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
