Controversy edit
Eng-tips.com bans people and blocks IP addresses pretty frequently and often without warning. I can find lots of examples of this on the internet, but having a hard time establishing them as reliable sources. Some of the links to people's comments about being blocked/banned/or faulty website operation include:

- shrugs. Most bans are students. Most IP blocks are students. Students asking studenty questions are not allowed to continue to be members. It is for professional engineers. Incidentally I am told that there is usually an email sent except in the case of liars, ie those who register under false pretences eg students. Greglocock (talk) 22:59, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

president edit
There is discussion on whether or not to include the name of the president of the company. The information is verified and several reliable sources indicate this information. Other editors say this information should not be included.

- Aside from the issue raised on that talk page, it's good to just think about what information it would actually give readers of the aritlce. If the president had an article on Wikipedia, it may be informative to tell readers that he is president of the company, but that's not the case. Someguy1221 (talk) 22:02, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- The president of the company has indicated to me (I am a member of the Eng-Tips Round Table, which advises management on site operations) that he would like to remove all references to him in that context from wiki. I appreciate that if he doesn't want his name on wiki then he shouldn't advertise it on his own site, he is just trying to make it a little harder for the spiteful to find him. Access edit
I am unable to access eng-tips from Malaysia 90% of the time over all ISP. I wonder if it would be worth noting which countries are blocking access or limiting access? I have googled why this may happen, but I turn up nothing.Bernoullies (talk) 01:05, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
