Summary of major cleanup

edit

I don't need to go through what's been done in the latest edit, you can see for yourself in the page history. What I do want to go through is what still needs doing. I am aware that the game is now on sale in Japan, but regardless of that, I still feel that there are some aspects of the article which need either sourcing or removing.

  • The first paragraph of the "Overview" section: the last part, "Adventures of the Deep allows players to travel to six different diving spots around the globe, including new polar and river locations," needs sourcing. Even if it's just from a hands-on impressions article from when the game was on show at E3, I can't find anywhere in particular that explicitly states this.
  • The entire "Known new animals" is bugging me because it's a list. There has got to be a better way of displaying this information. If not, maybe it should be removed. I'll leave that for you to decide. You have to ask whether or not such a list has a place on Wikipedia.
  • The same argument spills over into the "Dive locations" section, though this section I do feel has a place in the article. It needs expanding on, it needs sourcing, and I think it also needs names correcting. Out of the six named locations, when four of them are searched on, the top result is this article. Either the names are incorrect in which case they need to be changed, or the locations in the game are fictional in which case this needs to be explicitly stated.

A few changes that have been made which I will go through:

  • The case may be that the game's North American title will turn out just to be Endless Ocean 2 or it may end up getting its own subtitle. For now, though, I have moved the article to the game's European title due to the fact that it's the only one we've got to go on until Nintendo of America officially names/dates the game.
  • I've expanded on the game's infobox as much as I can and I've also added the reviews infobox, even though there's only one review at the moment. As requested, I have added a relevant screenshot. I've also added in the "2010 video games" category due to the fact that the game will be released in the rest of the world in the first quarter of 2010.

I've done as much as I can with the information we currently have. If anyone has any queries about the changes I've made, please let me know. Thanks, Cipher (Talk) 17:01, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Packaging query

edit

Since the game is being released in Europe before it is in North America, as I understand it, that means the article stays at its current name. But what about the packaging? The North American packaging is up there now but I've just received the European packaging. Should it be switched or does it not matter? Cipher (Talk) 23:37, 12 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

B Assessment

edit

Thank you to those of you who have contributed to the article. However, I still assess the article as C-Class. That having been said, here's a list of suggestions as to how the article could be improved.

  • Lengthen the lead paragraph to two or three paragraphs, including more information on the plot and critical reception that will be covered in the article itself.
  • Shorten the plot section by a bit.
    • Alongside this, use one translation (either the European or American) of the game and roll with it. Don't cover the localization changes unless it's necessary.
  • Detail why the music is important, or otherwise mention how it was received critically.
  • Shorten the reception template. While it's important to see how the game was generally received, that's what the aggregate scores cover. Keep the most important 8 or so, tops. It's usually smart to ensure that you've got a Japanese, European, and American release in the final choices (Famitsu and Eurogamer are popular), and a print review like Edge or Nintendo Power is prudent as well.
  • Embiggen the reception section. It's often a good idea to divide it into two or three paragraphs consisting of general reception, positive reception, and negative reception, with quotes from each.
  • If it's at all possible, include a section with development information. This is not always an option, of course, but it's one of the more informative parts of any article.

Apologies for the long wait, and I hope for the best in this article's eventual reclassing to B-status. Emmy Altava 00:37, 4 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
