GA Reassessment

As part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles' Project quality task force, I am re-reviewing this article to ensure compliance with current good article criteria. I have determined that it doesn't meet criteria for the reasons outlined below and needs a bit of work, with the broad issues outlined below:

  • Gameplay is almost entirely unreferenced.
  • There's a lot of fannish language throughout, suggesting POV concerns. For example in gameplay: "The game itself contains many unique and innovative features, including a well implemented "morale" system"
  • The prose is pretty poor in many places, for example lots of repetition: "After the Prehistoric Age, units such as naval units can be built."
  • Likewise the campaign is unreferenced.
  • There are excessive non-free images throughout, in violation of WP:NFCC. For example, what does File:Early EE.PNG add to the article, considering the early game elements are never discussed in any detail?
  • There's very little discussion about the expansion, which is a detriment considering it's referenced several times before the article actually gets around to explaining what it is.
  • Reception is short (as is development), but that's not as much of an issue for GA.
  • The Death and rebirth section is another fan-written section with no reliable sources to suggest it is worth mentioning in the article.

Given the number of concerns above, I am boldly delisting the article. Remember that you can renominate the article at any time you feel it meets the criteria. I don't watchlist old reviews, so drop me a line on my talk if you have questions. Thanks, Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 14:36, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
