Ambiguous aubergine

"The eggplant emoji (U+1F346 🍆 ) has also seen controversy due to its being used, almost solely in the United States, to represent a penis."

This is awkwardly phrased. Do they mean it's used only in the US to mean this (obviously incorrect)? Or that in the US, it only means "penis" (still not exactly supported by the citations)? This should be rephrased. Turkeyphant 11:50, 2 December 2019 (UTC)

Shortcode

According to [1], there is an informal standard of ascii representations for emoji called "shortcode", where for example, the smiling emoji can be typed by entering  . Could we have a short section that explains this? Bonomont (talk) 20:33, 23 April 2017 (UTC)

I also think Shortcode deserves a section. It's hardly mentioned here and I know of it's prevalence in many online chat forums, messengers and input method editors. I've noticed that the website Emoji Cheat Sheet is used possibly as a de facto standard. Its large usage can be seen on the website. I'm going to research some more and possibly write a section later. Torresjrjr (talk) 14:10, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Memoji?

New term I've encountered fairly often in proximity to "animoji". I don't know what memoji refers to yet (not sure I care much either, I just note that our article doesn't mention it yet).  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  22:24, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
