Parentage edit
Why does the text say Ellis is the daughter of O'Neill's 4th wife but the chart shows her as daughter of his 2nd wife, Siobhan O'Donnell?
Logically, if she was born in 1583, she could not have been born in wedlock to Catherine Magennis. At least one source[1] says Hugh O'Neill & Catherine Magennis married in 1598. Another source[2] directly says Ellis/Alice is the daughter of Siobhan.

- Dear User:Earthsprite. Good catch. My fault. I added the family tree on 26 January 2020. It claims her mother was Siobhan. I obviously failed to see the contradiction. I think I adapted the family tree from Randal MacDonnell, 1st Marquess of Antrim (1645 creation), where Siobhan is supported by a citation from Cokayne given in the corresponding footquote as "He [the 1st Earl] m. 1604 Alice, da. of Hugh (O'Neill), Earl of Tyrone [I. [Ireland]] by his 2nd wife, Johanna, da. of Hugh McManus O'Donnell". I feel yours should be the honour to correct the text and add the citation if you feel so. With many thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 07:38, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hi User:Johannes Schade,
- Thanks for the quick reply and additional source! I hadn't even seen that note on the page you linked, in which they already point out the same thing I did. Pre-1800s genealogy can be confusing and messy. EarthSprite∞ 23:57, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
