breach of NPOV on the "as with so much Americana"?--JECompton 05:22, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm Webs. I'll be working on this article, as I have just finished reading the novel. I'm changing this article according to the Novels Wikiproject template. The changes might take a while, and anyone with information about this novel, I could use some help with the characters. Thanks!

- As for the NPOV, I don't know what you're talking about.

Joined wikipedia because of this. Finally there's an article I know about which doesn't have mountains of information on it already =)--Eshmasesh 20:52, 12 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello. May I ask--three of my students, who are quite bright and interested in helping to develop the page on Ella Minnow Pea indicated that they were no longer able to gain access to the Ella Minnow Pea page. Any ideas why?

Here is what my student wrote:

"Everytime I try to log into Wikipedia from the Ella Minnow Pea page it says that my username is not available. Also if I simply just click on edit it says that "Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing." If i go to the normal cite ( wikipedia.org ) I am able to log in, but I can't find the Ella Minnow Pea page to edit it. We have had our system administrator look over the cite to see if our school has any blocks that are prohibiting us from getting onto the cite, but he can't find any."

It's going to be pretty bad if the page for a novel about totalitarian censorship of language started blocking additional contributors. - 60.36.46.80 07:13, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Deconstruction?

edit

The section on deconstruction seems a like WP:OR... can anyone find citations? 128.158.145.51 14:59, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Looks like WP:OR (and not very good OR, either...) to me, too. Since it was there for at least 5 years without a reference, I pulled it. Some of the work on the characters/themes seems like OR also (presumably from the class mentioned here on the talk page), but I'm leaving it for now since it's not entirely out of line with descriptions of other literary texts on WP. I haven't actually read the book, so I can't say whether or not they're making original claims or the themes described are obvious to a general readership. This is a sad page

edit

First, you need to state notability Second, none of the characters are explored in depth. This page just says "The characters did...bla... and then they... bla..." It should have more "The characters have (this kind of personality). This is described when (they did this)" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Heero Kirashami (talkcontribs) 02:57, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Even more so, the plot summary is just...well, a description of the pages of the book. It should mention a lot more about the actual PLOT --Heero Kirashami (talk) 04:37, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

More Plot!!

edit

As Heero said, THE PAGE NEEDS MORE PLOT!

It isn't that hard. It's basically just "this happened, then that happened", and so on. I'll be contributing in time too, no worries.

PS: Is the deconstruction part really necessary? I know we've been talking about it in class, but not many people will want to read it. They just want the hard, cold facts: what happened, who did what, when, and why (and how).

Ella Character Description

edit

Many of the character descriptions need work (as was previously stated). Specifically though, is this sentence really necessary: "Her name is a play on words as it sounds like the pronunciation of the letters "LMNOP", fitting with the content of the novel." It interrupts the flow of the paragraph and is nuance of the book's title that, in my opinion, does not need explicit reference. Any thoughts?

Citing Sources

edit

Hello, I noticed that this article is asking for verification through sources. I have done some research and found some sources that work well with this article, but every time I try to edit and add the sources only references are allowed to be put in. Can someone tell me why I cannot add inline citations for sources and only references? Kdeorne1 (talk) 01:48, 23 March 2012 (UTC) I just realized my mistake in confusing the fact that the references are the inline citations.Kdeorne1 (talk) 02:01, 23 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

== Much more than a stub! ==

Although I am not part of the Novels project, I have read the book Ella Minnow Pea thoroughly enough to realize that the contributor of this article knew what he was talking about. This article contains too much in-depth analysis (characters, symbolism, themes discussed) to keep a stub-class rating in my opinion. Based on the descriptions I read, it deserves to be rated B-class (usable) at the very worst. However, I agree with the Low importance rating: Ella Minnow Pea is not an internationally acclaimed masterpiece like 1984, after all. --Ingeborg S. Nordén 21:53, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Agreed - so assessment changed. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 07:02, 24 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
