I know this has probably been discussed to death, but I want to discuss this revert to an edit I made. @DuncanHill: wrote that it was "to avoid unnecessary US_centric bias"; however, that's also why I made my edit. I understand the whole elk controversy. Outside North America, just "elk" is the common name of the animal. Calling it the "Eurasian elk" is unnecessarily specific and done for the benefit of North Americans. I think it needs to be reworded (not necessarily exactly how I did it) to make it clear that just "elk" – the name of this page – refers to the species; it's not just a type of elk. For goodness sake, please stop undoing my edit adding the common nickname for the Acorn Electron computer. I've added a paragraph to the Acorn Electron's talk page if you wish to discuss it. Many people have used the nickname over decades. There's at least two emulators, several hardware add-ons that use the term, and no doubt many pieces of software. It's even listed in wiktionary complete with quotations. It is not controversial to have this listed in the 'technology' section of this page.82.27.207.101 (talk) 07:29, 16 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for adding it to the article. That's all that was needed. Disambiguation pages aren't a collection of things that exist somewhere, sometime, in the world. They guide readers to content in Wikipedia articles. As such, entries are expected to follow WP:MOSDAB. older ≠ wiser10:45, 16 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
