Birth name: Eleanor -- not Elinor

Correction of birth name to Eleanor. I have large quantity of original family correspondence that always refers to her initially as Eleanor and later as Ellie. Her own letters are signed "Ellie." I do not wish to dispute references to "Elinor" since Stonewall Jackson may have written her name that way. I do wish to confirm that her birth name was spelled "Eleanor." Somebody else may choose to change the name of the page.

David X. Junkin's biography of George Junkin refers to her as Eleanor.
The Junkin genealogy also lists her as Eleanor.
A biography of her sister Margaret states "Then came Eleanor, born in 1825..."
Mention of her in the Arnold reference are either Eleanor or Ellie -- and Elinor does not appear in the book. Tmdnc (talk) 17:57, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

Seems like there are two good options:

1. Keep article as is, while adding a mention that her name was also spelled "Eleanor" in some references, or

2. Change article title and text to use "Eleanor", while adding a mention "sometimes spelled Elinor".

Proposal for including birth name

In accordance with the WP:COMMONNAME policy I propose to edit the article -- with no change in its title. Historical references related to Stonewall Jackson may commonly refer to her as Elinor. However, published historical references related to the Junkin family refer to her as Eleanor.
As suggested in Wikipedia:Article titles#Treatment of alternative names, I propose the following edit of the first paragraph (with the addition of the new sources in the appropriate location):

Elinor "Ellie" Jackson (born Eleanor Junkin; March 6, 1825 – October 22, 1854) was the first wife of Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. She died in childbirth a little over a year after their marriage.

New sources for the article:

• Coulling, Mary Price (1993). Margaret Junkin Preston - A Biography. John F. Blair.
• Junkin, David X. (1871). The Reverend George Junkin, D.D.,LL.D. A Historical Biography. J.B. Lippincott & Co.

Please note that the existing first paragraph shows that she died on Oct. 2, 1854 while the infobox date shows Oct. 22, 1854.

@Creuzbourg:I am following guidance for Wikipedia:Article titles#Treatment of alternative names but I would agree with putting it in the infobox. Page numbers are in the footnotes. See references box on this page. When the edit is moved to the article, all the notes will be together and all the sources will be together.Tmdnc (talk) 19:32, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

@Schazjmd: @Creuzbourg: @Tmdnc: I think adding "Eleanor" to the Infobox as the birth name would work, and/or adding "also known as" or words to that effect in the opening sentence. You can see an example where I did this in the Stephen Jacob article.

My only concern was that we not have an article with one name in the title (Elinor), but the name spelled differently in every other instance within the article (Eleanor).
