Family and early history
editBorn 30 November 1818 to Lydia (née Mason) (1769–1848) and Elihu Anthony Sr. (1789–1863) of Greenfield, New York. The Anthony family were New England Quakers and his aunt was Susan B. Anthony. Prior to moving West, his father Elihu Sr. and brother Mason while living in Greenfield, New York, helped with the underground railroad efforts by navigating people to the East to rural Vermont to the underground railroad depot of Rokeby Farms.
-––– unable to find the citation for this information so I moved it to the talk page.
- I realize these sentences are about the wrong Elihu Anthony, his grandfather and nephew all have the same name. That "Jr." was in error too, name has been corrected now. Jooojay (talk) 08:52, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
